The Masquerade information and rules are posted on the
Anticipation Web site, together with the entry form.
Stage
We anticipate that the stage will be 20 meters wide by 10
meters deep (about 65’ 8” by 32’ 8”). The height of the stage
will be one meter (3’ 4”). There will be a 4 meter by 6 meter
(13’ by 19’ 7”) wing on either side of the stage, screened from
the audience. Stairs will lead to each wing from a corridor
behind the stage. Entry and exit may be from either stage right
or stage left. Please note that exact details may differ.
Big Screens
To enhance the audience’s view, there will be projection
screens stage right and stage left. Each screen will be about
3 meters by 3 meters and a half (12’ by 10’). A larger central
rear projection screen will also be available to contestants
who wish to enhance their presentation with a picture
background. You may display only one static picture per entry,
as the logistics of showing multiple pictures or movies are too
daunting for an event of this size. Pictures should be submitted
as far in advance as possible. The required size is 1280x1024
pixels, in JPEG format. We will have a small supply of images
available, suitable to cover all the major themes.
Copyrighted Material
We are currently studying the possibility of obtaining a general
permission to use copyrighted material in the Anticipation
Masquerade. However, we do not know if we will obtain
it as of this publication. While you may use any picture as
background and any soundtrack you wish (provided that
neither is offensive), you should know that there is a possibility
that copyrighted music might be excised from the official
video of the event, and replaced by generic material. To be
on the safe side, we advise you to have an alternate, noncopyrighted,
soundtrack available. The background pictures
are considered incidental and are not subject to this restriction.
Translation Service
The Masquerade is bilingual. Entrants may choose to use
English or French or both. The Masquerade will provide a
translation service between the two languages for entrants
who furnish written scripts at least several weeks in advance.
Unfortunately, we are not able to translate from other
languages into either English or French. Further information
is available on the Masquerade page of the web site.
Fan Photography Area
A Fan Photo area will be established in the Masquerade
green room (directly behind the stage), under Christine Mak’s
direction. It will accommodate both available light and flash
photography. The Fan Photo area will have only 30 seats
for photographers. They must be reserved in advance and a
reservation form will be available on the web site. Any fan
photo area seats unreserved when the con begins can be
reserved at the Masquerade desk in the Palais.
