The Fourteenth Annual Wild Fish Soiree and Benefit Auction On May 14, 2005 Washington Trout will celebrate our 14th annual Wild Fish Soiree and Benefit Auction, this year at the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery in Woodinville. We’re looking forward to spending a lovely spring evening with old and new friends, enjoying the beautiful Chateau Ste. Michelle and its charming grounds, sipping good wine, sitting down to an excellent meal, and contributing together to recover wild fish in the Northwest. The Wild Fish Soiree is Washington Trout’s most significant fundraising event of the year. Proceeds from the auction directly fund important WT field research, habitatrestoration, and advocacy initiatives. The 2004 auction was the most successful fundraising event in WT history. Photo: Jamie Glasgow 115 WT members and supporters enjoyed incredible food and refreshment at the beautiful South Lake Union dining and entertainment facility of Lowell-Hunt Catering, and bid their way to raising nearly $45,000 for WT programs. The high point of the evening was the keynote address from Bruce Brown, author of the seminal Mountain in the C l o u d s . Ta k i n g the audience on an extemporaneous, v i s i o n a r y , a n d heartfelt exploration, Brown discussed how the social, political, a n d e c o l o g i c a l conditions faced by Bruce Brown giving the keynote address at the 2004 Auction. This trip of a lifetime includes 8-days and 7-nights on a fly-fishing expedition package for two anglers, fly-fishing for trophy rainbow and brown trout, steelhead, salmon, and sea-run brown trout, in a remote, spectacularly beautiful wilderness setting, while being accommodated in four-star luxury. Yan Kee Way also offers opportunities for other outdoor and vacation adventures including spectacular outdoor photography, kayaking, river rafting and hiking amongst the mountains of Patagonia. The package is available Nov - Dec 2005, and Mar 23 - May 4 2006 and includes all transfers, food, lodging, guides, and fishing licenses for two adventurers (it does not include airfare to and from Puerto Montt, Chile).You may exchange fishing days for sport-adventure days, and Southern Chile Expeditions can arrange a package for spouses to accompany two fishing partners. This trip is valued at $8500 and bids start at $5000 – that’s only $2500 per person. So check your calendar, find a partner, and start saving your nickels. Michael and Myrna Darland have donated trips to Yan Kee Way at three previous auctions, raising $39,500 for Washington Trout; we thank the Darlands and respect their commitment to wild-fish recovery.
