Stop press • Stop press • Stop press Stop press • Stop press • Stop press Taylors Industrial Services Limited of Aberdeen have taken delivery of their second Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited vehicle Taylors Industrial Services Limited of Aberdeen have just taking delivery of their second Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited vehicle which is a Variopress two 22m3 body fitted with the Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited Omega trade Lifter mounted to a Mercedes Benz 6x2 rear steer chassis. This vehicle joins Taylors large fleet of vehicles along side their Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited 33m3 FEL Frontpress. Perth and Kinross Council have recently purchased five Faun Zoeller (UK) Ltd Rotopress bodies Perth and Kinross Council have just purchased 5 Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited 25m3 Rotopress Bodies mounted on Mercedes Benz 32000kg 8x4 Econic chassis to carry out their Green recycling collection. “We specifically sourced these vehicles to deal with the ever increasing volumes of garden and food waste (we collect it combined from the householders in a 240l bin), which have come about as people continue to switch on to recycling and the services we provide. In areas where we were having to make 3 return trips to the transfer station, the Rotopress with its 27m3 body on a 32T Econic Chassis should allow us to reduce this to 2 trips due to the increase in payload made possible by having no packer/hopper system in addition to the larger chassis. An added benefit is the sealed nature of the body as we had previously had concerns over the ability of traditional bodies to hold the liquids present when the garden portion of the collection diminishes in the winter months. The feedback from the crews has been extremely positive, with comments on the smoothness and simplicity of the body operation in comparison with traditional compaction vehicles. The involvement with Faun Zoeller (UK) Limited, particularly Duncan Angus and the folk from Anglesey, throughout the process has been a great bonus as the vehicles we speced were the first 27m3 bodies to come over from Germany, which presented novel issues for all concerned, all of which were addressed professionally and in a timely manner. The vehicles have even become a bit of an internet star with photos being snapped by local transport enthusiasts and put onto the internet. It is fair to say the strange cylindrical refuse vehicles are making a strong visual impact across the area and helping to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our garden & food waste collection service, helping Perth & Kinross Council on the path to becoming a zero waste society.” David Goodenough - Assistant Operations Manager Doncaster Service Centre scoop FTA Roadworthiness award The Doncaster Service Centre have been awarded the FTA Roadworthiness award at the SITA Maidenhead compliance awards. This was achieved by upholding a 100% MOT Pass rate and received no FTA check points against the workshop. Stop press • Stop press • Stop press Stop press • Stop press • Stop press FAUN Zoeller (UK) Ltd Win 1st Contract with Kier Street Services Kier is a leading construction, development and service group specialising in building and civil engineering, support services, public and private house building, property development and Private Finance Initiative (PFI). Following on from the main contract award to supply the 16 vehicles, Roland Taylor, Business Development Manager & Andy Towns, Fleet Engineering Manager, carried on the success and recently FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited were named as the official winner of Kier Street Services, North Norfolk Contract. The main specification of the vehicles are 26T Merc Econic Chassis fitted with 22 cubic meter Variopress bodies, and Otto Lifts, and also 7.5T Mitsubishi Canters with Cage Tipper bodies. The North Norfolk Contract, not only consists of providing 16 vehicles, but also the Maintenance & Repair of 45 vehicles as part of the service. Another part of the Contract is to maintain an assortment of grounds maintenance equipment and small trailers. FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited will be employing 4 extra members of staff that will be dedicated to working on this contract, and working on site. This will be 3 mechanics, and also an Administrator. BIFFA ROLLS OUT E-DELTA LIFTERS TO PORTSMOUTH In September Biffa took delivery of six of our new Delta Electric lifters. They have since been installed on some of Biffa’s Dennis Olympus trucks currently doing the rounds in Portsmouth. The E-Delta lifts are designed to minimise CO² emissions and deliver fuel savings at the same time. Since installation they have been showing positive results with both CO² levels and fuel consumption significantly reduced. More than 25 OTTO compacts were also delivered alongside the E-Delta lifts. The Compacts have a lightweight design and feature a vertical lift action and an on-board control system which monitors the amount of bins collected on a weekly and daily basis. David Maidman, Operation Director of Biffa, said: “Reducing our impact on the environment is obviously a high priority for us and the new E-Delta lifts help us to manage our clients’ collection rounds more efficiently while cutting fuel wastage and CO² emissions at the same time.” The Kier Street Services team.
