On Tuesday 26th July the TRACKWAY team officially launched FAUN TRACKWAY USA, Inc - a new company based in Washington DC. The celebrations took place in the British Embassy in Washington, with over 500 influential members of the DC military and business community invited. The event featured three speakers including Peter Luff, Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology. The final speaker was The Honorable Togo D. West, Jr. former Secretary of the US Army and Secretary of Veterans Affairs under President Clinton. We were extremely fortunate to have such high profile individuals attend the event and speak about TRACKWAY products. Attendees at the event included Randy Babbitt, FAA Administrator, Col. Anninos, from the Army Corp of Engineers, and Lt. Com. Monell, Presidential Airlift Coordinator for the White House. We also had journalists and editors from influential defence publications including Aviation Week, Defense News, Defense Daily and Inside the Air Force. The subsequent media coverage will be very important in terms of building brand and product awareness in the US defence industry. The launch was a very exciting event for FAUN TRACKWAY. It will give our US business a solid foundation and will aid our attempt to win orders in North America. South Lanarkshire Council have recently taken delivery of three new Faun Zoeller (UK) Ltd Variopress 2 bodies and Lifters Two of these vehicles are Faun Variopress Two 25m3 bodies with two Zoeller Split Automatic Rotary Lifters mounted onto two 32000kg 8x4 Mercedes Benz Econics. The third one is a Faun Variopress Two 20m3 bodies and also a Zoeller Rotary lifter which is mounted onto a 26000kg 6x2 rear steer Mercedes Benz Econic chassis. The bodies and lifter have settled in so well they have just ordered two more 22m3 bodies and Rotary Lifter is time to be mounted on two Scania 6x2 rear steers. Otto Lifts selected to help Newham clean up ready for 2012 Olympics’ L.B. of Newham have purchased 26 new Otto Lifts after extensive trials over a 2 year period. Otto’s unique features of reduced overhang and clean lifting, emptying, of wheeled bin containers. All this linked with its reliability, ease of maintenance for Dave Stevens and his service staff, and user friendliness of the “vertical lift action” for the crew’s doing the work Once again Otto came out on top. Supplying 26 new lifters on highly maneuverable rear steer refuse collection vehicles, that Dave Humphries needs to get round all the tight spots and parked cars to complete the days work. With the spotlight on East London for ‘2012’ the London Borough of Newham wanted to make sure that the waste is collected efficiently and cleanly for this most prestige’s event and beyond, Otto can do just that! 10 11 Europe’s number one
Stop press • Stop press • Stop press Stop press • Stop press • Stop press Stephenson’s College, Coalville, Leicestershire Following the success of last years training courses for the 3rd Year Apprentices at Coalville College. Phil Roberts, Corporate Account Manager, decided that this would become an annual event. FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited truly believes in helping apprentices wherever and whenever they can. Trainees from Veolia, Sita, Grundon & Biffa were in attendance. All of the apprentices enjoyed the course and appreciated the time we gave them over the 3 days. The course tutor Mr Gordon Cromwell believes it is a real benefit for the apprentices to listen to and speak with people from the industry as well as the valuable training given. Day one was a classroom presentation on the industry they were joining, varying waste strategies and an overview of the waste collection equipment on the market. Day two was hands on training on the FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Rotary bin lifter; the students were given operator and fault finding training on one of the FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited demonstration units. Day three was again hands on in the workshop. The apprentices were trained on the FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Variopress 2 body which included operator, hydraulic and electrics training. EDA Fuel Saving Device The Eco Drive Assistant (EDA) is an electronic control device designed to reduce fuel consumption by optimizing driving for ‘stop/start’ refuse collection driving cycles. The EDA keeps the engine in the optimal torque zone by supervising the gear change timing and effectively removing the “heavy right foot” syndrome. The EDA reduces stress on the engine and leads to fuel consumption reduction in domestic collection rounds of up to 20.6%. Guaranteed minimum of 6% up to 20.6% fuel & CO2 savings on domestic collection rounds FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Supply the Kier North Norfolk Fleet The recent order roll out for the Kier North Norfolk contract was off to a flying start with Mercedes, FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited & Otto equipment delivered right first time and on time. On site to ensure everything ran smoothly were Roland Taylor - FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Account Manager for Kier, Richard Alexander - FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Depot Foreman, Trevor Upchurch - Otto Field Service Engineer, Andy Towns - FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Fleet Engineering Manager and Nick Preston - FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited Commercial & Marketing Director. Nick Preston commented “I am very proud of the team as Kier were extremely pleased with how the whole of the mobilisation and delivery process was successfully provided by all involved at FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited. Kier Street Services Divisional Manager Paul Flight said “We are excited about this contract. The importance of selecting the right vehicles and the right maintenance partner cannot be underestimated and we welcome the opportunity to work with FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited“. The contract, worth over £4,000,000, also includes the provision of a full repair and maintenance provision supplied by FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited. Two further orders have been placed by Kier on FAUN Zoeller (UK) Limited for the East Northants and Waltham Forest contracts. The East Northants contract involves the provision of Mercedes FAUN food pod vehicles fitted with Otto bin lifts. The Waltham Forest contract involves the new twin pack Selectapress with separate hoppers. 12 13 Europe’s number one
