3.10 Serious incidents<br />

3.10.1 There have been nine serious incidents, as classified by the UK AAIB, involving small<br />

aeroplanes over the last ten years. Figure 4.9 shows the annual number of serious<br />

incidents, broken down by class of aircraft.<br />

3.11 Occurrences<br />

3.11.1 There have been approximately 500 occurrences involving small aeroplanes reported<br />

between 1995 and 2004. This figure includes accidents, serious incidents and<br />

incidents reported through the MOR scheme. Only 6% of these occurrences are<br />

accidents or serious incidents.<br />
