The Functional but Frail Elderly Patient and CVD
• Role of “primary” prevention in my octogenarian
• Adapted medication management approaches for elders with CVD
• “De-prescribing”
This presentation will discuss an approach to understanding older
patients with cardiovascular disease with respect to comorbidities and
“frailty”. Which medications should be reviewed and considered for
discontinuation will also be discussed.
The “Statin-Phobic” Patient
• My numbers still aren’t pretty despite a statin – now what?
• All my muscles ache – life on a statin is not worth it!
• I do not want to get diabetes!
While it has been well established that statin therapy is extremely
beneficial to reduce morbidity and mortality in the right patients, there
are a number of barriers that may arise that will prevent treating some
patients appropriately. We will explore some of these issues and discuss
possible solutions.
Skin Lesions We Should All Recognize
As Markers of Vascular Disease
Obvious to elusive dermatologic findings indicating probable
cardiovascular disease will be reviewed.
Please note that 25% question/answer time is included in each lecture/presentation time allotment.
