The Good Samaritan Fund assists residents
of St. Paul’s who are unable to afford
the full cost of their care.
During 2009, St. Paul’s provided
a total of $2.6 million in care for which
it was not reimbursed. The majority of
this was provided to residents receiving
skilled nursing care at The Villas.
Normally about 2 of every 3 residents
of The Villas need help with the cost of
their care.
For residents of The Villas who
needs help with the cost of their care,
this amounts to $53.33 daily that they
aren’t able to pay. That totaled over
$2.1 million of the unreimbursed care
needs. The remainder of the total rep-
Good Samaritan Fund Assists Residents
resents a number of residents in our
aging-in-place facilities who required
some assistance, either because they
had depleted their assets or they had
suffered significant declines in assets
because of the economic downturn in
recent years.
St. Paul’s will never ask a resident
to leave because of financial issues. In
addition, all residents received the same
outstanding care and services without
regard to the ability to pay the full cost
of that care.
“Some of our residents have faced
financial challenges because of economic
uncertainty and their ability to
pay for their care,” noted Bryan Oros,
executive director. “Our donors have
faithfully supported us during this time,
and for that we are very grateful.”
The future continues to offer uncertainties
for our residents.
“No one is sure of how the new
healthcare plan will impact our residents,
or how Medicare or Medicaid
will be impacted,” Oros added. “Combine
those factors with the still uncertain
economy and our residents are
concerned, as our we.”
We encourage supporters of St.
Paul’s to continue to generously give to
the Good Samaritan Fund. All of these
gifts are used solely to assist residents
in paying for their care.
