The <strong>Communicator</strong> — Fall 2013 Issue The Jimmy and Associates Barbecue 2013 One of the largest, if not the largest, Jimmy and Associates annual barbecue was recently held on July 13 at the beautiful property of Lou Lombardi and his wife in Claremont Ontario. They are absolutely outstanding hosts for this yearly event. Over 60 members and guests enjoyed spectacular sunny weather, glorious scenery, bingo, raffle items, stories and jokes all to be chased down with a few cold drinks. Toronto Signals Band in attendance – good show guys and gals. Our executive of Jack Lee, David Spessot, Rose Kelly, Steve Cheney and ex officio John Spiers surely performed beyond their call of duty – thanks team. So, well do it again next year, same place with a date to be confirmed later. David A. Douglas, KCJ, KStG, PhD President, Jimmy and Associates Sumptuous steaks and sausages, procured by Lou were perfectly cooked by Chief Chef LCol Moseanu and Sous Chef Jonathan Delgado. The dinner table was laden with salads, munchies, cakes and deserts to compliment the steaks and sausages, oh so good! A special presentation on behalf of the Executive was made to our ex-vice-president Renny MacKinnon by Rose Kelly for her dedication and hard work during her tenure. George Watford, Bandsman Toronto Signals, played the Last Post after Vice-President Jack Lee read the names of the Fallen, a fitting tribute to those Jimmy and Associates members who passed last year. A special mention of thanks goes to the members of the Regiment who took the time to bring, set-up and teardown the tents to protect our members from the elements. MCpl Karl Rogala, Cpl Chris Blake and Cpl Janet Lapensee from Borden Squadron and Cpl Guy Hamel and Pte Colin Ao from Toronto Squadron – job well done! The <strong>Communicator</strong> — Fall 2013 Issue Army Communication Information Systems Specialist (ACISS) Courses Soldiers from across Central Area and one from 34 Sig Regt Montreal participate in the Exported ACISS DP-1 held in Borden this summer. Staff for the course came from 31, 32 and 33 Signal Regiments. The primary objective the course was to demonstrate the capability of conducting signal trade courses outside of the hallowed halls of CFSCE. The greatest challenge of the course was integrating the complete course into the Division Exercise: EX STALLWART GUARDIAN 13, held at 4th Cdn Training Centre Meaford. The course started out with 20 students and graduated 19. Approximately one third of the students were from 32 Sig Regt. The added bonus to the students having completed the course in Borden was completing both Mods 1 & 2 which paves the way to quicker career progression. Those who completed their course in Kingston, have Mod 2 to complete. So how did 32 Sig Regt do it you ask? Simply put, staff and students worked later during the evenings and sacrificed every second Saturday over the summer. Definitely a demonstration of commitment and determination by all. Cheung Course Achievement Members of 32 Signal Regiment who attended the ACISS DP1.0 Tactical Detachment Member Specialist Operator course Session 001508 May 2013 - 19 Jul 2013 at Canadian Forces School Communication and Electronic (CFSCE) located at CFB Kingston. Sig Cheung, K achieved the Top candidate overall for the course. Centered in the picture, are Sig Anja, J on the left and Sig Cardenas D on the Right who also performed spectacularly. 13
