Student Services
The Student Services unit offers the
following services:
• information on airport pick-up and
accommodation upon arrival;
• orientation programs for new
students;
• cultural and student excursions
and activities;
• assistance with personal issues –
offering a confidential referral
service;
• assistance with student visa issues; and
• academic monitoring.

Learning Skills Unit
The Learning Skills Unit (LSU) is a free
service offering academic support for
international students to assist them
in adjusting to studying at a tertiary
level in Australia. The LSU provides
assistance in many areas:
• developing critical thinking and
analytical skills;
• referencing;
• oral presentations;
• academic writing;
• working with case studies;
• analysing course-specific
assessment tasks;
• exam preparation;
• time management and study
planning; and
• getting the most out of lectures
and tutorials.
Individual appointments can be made
at any stage of your studies. LSU also
provides a range of printed and online
resources to help students to do well
academically.
Remember all services at LSU are free.
Training, Employment
and Career Coaching
(TECC)
The Training, Employment and Career
Coaching (TECC) unit assists students
with access a range of employment and
career oriented services. These services
are provided without charge.
The services include:
• access (via direct email) to part-time,
casual, vacation, graduate and
full-time job vacancies;
• various group workshops, ranging
from resume design and interview
skills;
• individual career plans;
• involvement with community projects
and volunteer research positions in
industry;
• campus visits by professional
associations such as the Australian
Computer Society (ACS), Australian
Institute of Management (AIM),
Certified Practicing Accountants
(CPA) and Institute of Chartered
Accountants Australia (ICAA); and
• the possibility of gaining Australian
work experience in your area of study.
