Staff and pupils were intrigued and
excited by the response to question
19 in the Edexcel Mathematics Non-
Calculator Paper during the exam
season. News headlines confirmed the
challenging nature of this question as
pupils across the country were stumped
by its complexity. However, two of our
Year 9 boys, Najib & Hariz, managed to
complete this question with algebraic
flair and they enjoyed sharing this with
staff as well as with their peers.
Speak Out Challenge
During Enrichment Week the English department held an in-house Speak
Out Day with Year 10 pupils. It was a brilliant day in which the students
were trained in public speaking and had to compete against each other to
win the title of WCS Speak Out Champion.
With only three hours in which to prepare, the pupils showed they could
be masterful and adept at speaking in public. The competition at the end
of the day was judged by staff who supported the event. It is with great
pride that we announce the two winners of the challenge. The Round
1 Champion was Luka Lulaj and the Round 2 Champion was Cameron
Robinson-Allen. Congratulations to them both!
