An update from your
alumni association
To the Bishop McGuinness Family and Friends:
As I enter my second year as the president of the Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School
Alumni Association, I would like to say it has been an honor to serve my alma mater in this
capacity. I also want to thank all of you who support our organization through your generosity
and participation. We have an outstanding volunteer board and we strive throughout the school
years to benefit the McGuinness community in any way we can.
The primary impact of the Alumni Association comes in the form of our sponsorship of annual
student financial aid packages for families that qualify as well as supplementing the All Class
Alumni Scholarship Fund. We also endeavor to support and influence all of the students
of McGuinness in many diverse and positive ways. In order to accomplish these goals the
Alumni Association puts on several different events throughout the school year. While some
are fun and others are more serious, all are intended to be enjoyable and open to alumni
participation.
As an organization, the Alumni Association is excited about the upcoming school year and
looking forward to again making a significant impact on the McGuinness community. We will
again be hosting our largest annual fundraiser in August – McGuinness Trivia Night. A lot of
effort and planning goes into the evening and each year it seems to get bigger and better. This
year’s Trivia Night will be held on August 18th in The Commons.
The next major Alumni Association event after Trivia Night will be the 4th annual Career Day
for the seniors in November. This experience has been very popular for the past three years
because it gives the students a chance to glimpse several possible paths of interest for life after
school. This day would not be possible without all of the great volunteer speakers (most of
whom are McGuinness alumni) who come and donate their time and impart their experience
on the senior class.
In the spring we will have our Public Service Day which in the past has included such activities
as working with Habitat for Humanity and a day of landscaping on the beautiful McGuinness
campus. We will also have our annual Bingo Night fundraiser in the spring. This event has
grown in recent years and is now a large, successful, family-friendly fundraiser. Thereafter,
we will finish the school year with our Senior Lunch. Along the way we will mix in several
alumni get-togethers in the form of Tailgate Cookouts and Happy Hours which give all alumni
a chance to mingle and network in a relaxed atmosphere. If you would like to participate in any

I want to thank all of the members of the Alumni Association Board for their volunteer spirit
and their pursuit of excellence for our great high school. I also want to thank David Morton,
Patricia Hudacko, Sandy Cunningham and Catherine Myers of the administration that help us
so much in attaining our goals. We as a group look forward to continued overall success of
McGuinness in the upcoming 2012-2013 school year and beyond.
