Summer<br />

A summer holiday of activities is in store<br />

for kids across the district thanks to the<br />

East Herts Council Summer Activities Fund<br />

2013 which has given £25,000 to support for<br />

summer play.<br />

Local schools, sports clubs, youth<br />

organisations and school partnerships were<br />

invited to submit grant applications for sports<br />

and play schemes, activities and trips.<br />

These give children and young people the<br />

opportunity to stay active, be with their<br />

friends and enjoy learning new things<br />

over the summer months.<br />

Activities include: outdoor games & sports,<br />

gardening, dance & drama and podcasting.<br />

Performing Arts<br />

The Wooden Horse<br />

29 July - 2 August 10am - 3pm<br />

Middleton School, Walnut Tree Walk, Ware, Herts, SG12 9PD<br />

This is a 5-day performance project for disabled and<br />

non disabled young people aged 10 to 25.<br />

Participants work alongside leading dance and<br />

theatre experts to devise a production based on the<br />

myth of the Wooden Horse. The Wooden Horse<br />

encompasses dance, circus-skills, drama and<br />

puppetry culminating in a vibrant performance.<br />

£100 book in advance. If you think you can’t<br />

afford it PLEASE STILL APPLY. This is the<br />

standard fee which is applicable to all<br />

participants. We may be able to advise you<br />

on how to get financial support to participate<br />

in our projects.<br />

Tennis coaching course teaching children balance,<br />

agility and co-ordination skills which are important in<br />

any sport. The sessions will be broken down into<br />

a warm up, tennis racket warm up, tennis skills<br />

culminating in a game situation. 4 – 18 years old.<br />

Sessions will be run by LTA Licensed Coach, CRB<br />

checked. Rackets are available. Please be sure to<br />

bring a drink. £1 per session of 1 to 1 1 ⁄2 hours daily.<br />
