CI<strong>RSE</strong> meets ...<br />
Italy<br />
The Italian Vascular and Interventional Radiology Section, with<br />
over 700 members, is part of SIRM (Italian Society of Medical<br />
Radiology). Since its foundation in 1974 it boasts a long history,<br />
a great tradition, a wide representation throughout the country<br />
and a very large field of interests and clinical applications. It is<br />
interested in promoting IR and training young radiologists.<br />
Every year the Italian Vascular and Interventional Radiology Sec -<br />
tion plans important congresses, such as “Movie Inter ven tional”,<br />
in Turin, showcasing live and pre-recorded procedures; “Gargano”,<br />
a morbidity-mortality meeting in Puglia; the “Postgraduate Cam -<br />
pus” for young radiologists in training; the “Itinerant courses”,<br />
short teaching and informative conferences held in different<br />
small towns; and the National Congress of the Italian Vascular and<br />
Interventional Radiology Section, which is <strong>org</strong>anised every two<br />
years, traditionally choosing a beautiful Italian city as its venue.<br />
The near future will surely see further development of interventional<br />
radiology in Italy, fields of interest will expand and<br />
more will be offered to patients. The Italian Vascular and Inter -<br />
ventional Radiology Section has become a CI<strong>RSE</strong> Group Mem -<br />
ber and looks forward to a growing co-operation with inter -<br />
national colleagues and other European scientific societies.<br />
The CI<strong>RSE</strong> meets… programme has proved to be an important<br />
platform for establishing and strengthening the relations<br />
between CI<strong>RSE</strong> and its distinguished Group Members - the<br />
National Societies in the field of Interventional Radiology. Experts<br />
from various regions around the world have provided interesting<br />
insights into the current status of Interventional Radiology as<br />
well as the state of spe cific procedures and conditions in their<br />
home countries.<br />
