Table 11 contains these values as percentages. In 1998, Ukraine and Russia published the most within this community of countries. While these figures were around 17 % and 13 % for the selected comparative countries, they were well above this in South-East <strong>Asia</strong>: approx. 32 % for Indonesia, approx. 21 % for Thailand and approx. 19 % for Vietnam. Furthermore, as shown in Figures 119 and 120, no clear relationship was found between the publication output of a country and cooperation with one of the randomly selected countries. Although the share of jointly published articles increased in the case of seven of the ten randomly selected countries between 1998 and 2007 (see Table 12), the figures for the South- East <strong>Asia</strong>n countries increased even more significantly. Taken together, the selected comparative countries published a total of 273,810 scientific journal articles in 1998 and 357,203 in 2007. 145
