Professional football came to the city on March 28, 1984, when Robert Irsay moved the historic NFL franchise from Baltimore to Indianapolis. DECEMBER 29 17th Week of Regular Season Games. DECEMBER 30 Earliest permissible date for clubs to renegotiate or extend the rookie contract of a drafted rookie who was selected in any round of the 2011 NFL Draft. Any permissible renegotiated or extended player contract will not be considered a rookie contract, and will not be subject to the rules that limit rookie contracts. DECEMBER 30 Option exercise period begins for Fifth-Year Option for First-Round Selections from the 2011 College Draft. To exercise the option, the club must give written notice to the player on or after December 30, 2013 but prior to May 3, 2014. 2014 JANUARY 4-5 Wild Card Playoff Games. COLTS NOTES COLTS INJURY UPDATE COACH PAGANO - MONDAY TRANSCRIPT “I’ll start with an injury update. We talked about last night, Boom (Daniel) Herron went out with a pec injury. MRI came back. He tore his pec. He’ll require surgery. He’ll go on IR, unfortunately. Boom was playing really good football for us. Special teams-wise, he became, as soon as he got here, he was playing really good football for us on special teams and doing a lot of good things. Hate to lose anybody and hate to lose Boom. Ricky Jean (Francois), his MRI came back, similar injury as Bjoern (Werner). He’s got a partial tear, plantar fascia. So he’s going to be anywhere from two to four weeks. Jeff Linkenbach finished the game, came in today, he’s got a slight tear in his quad. He’ll be week-to-week. Guys that were on the list before: Kavell Conner, Greg Toler and Josh Gordy, look like they’ll get back to practice on Wednesday. Start with individual drills and then proceed from there and see how they’re doing. Ease them back into things.” Who will play for Ricky Jean Francois for the next few weeks? “Fili (Moala) will step in. He’s been backing Ricky up, so Fili will step in and Montori (Hughes) who we had up for a couple weeks, Montori Hughes, is a guy that’ll be up and on game day and also work at the three technique there.” Any update on Greg Toler? “Yeah, like I said, he’s going to be back Wednesday and they’re going to ease him back into individual drills. Once we do that, we’ll see if we can get him involved in some of the team periods.” FOUR TAKEAWAYS The Colts forced a season-high four turnovers in Week 13 against the Titans (12/1), marking the first time since Nov. 14, 2010 (Colts 23 vs. Bengals 17) that the Colts have recorded four-or-more takeaways in a single game. Cornerback Cassius Vaughn and inside linebacker Jerrell Freeman each had two takeaways in the game. Vaughn contributed with a career-high two intereptions, while Freeman recovered a Robert Mathis sack-forced fumble and intercepted a pass to end Tennessee’s final drive of the game. VINATIERI’S BIG DAY Kicker Adam Vinatieri converted on 5-of-5 field goals and one PAT for 16 total points in Week 13 against Tennessee (12/1). With his performance, he achieved several milestones, including: • Became the second player in NFL history to score 800 points with two different teams. Morten Andersen was the first to accomplish the feat with the Saints and Falcons. • Tied his career-high for field goals made in the first half of a single game (four). Vinatieri also hit four first half field goals as a member of the Patriots on Sept. 11, 2000 against the New York Jets and Nov. 7, 2004 against the St. Louis Rams. • Tied his career-high and a franchise record with his fifth field goal conversion in the third quarter. • Recorded his 100th point of the season, which ties him with Jason Elam for the most 100-point seasons in NFL history (16). • Tied an NFL record for successful field goals made from 40-49 yards (tied with nine other players) in a single game. • Passed Jason Elam (436) for seventh place in NFL history in alltime field goals made. Also passed John Kasay (120) for fifth place in league history in successful kicks made between 40-49 yards. CAREER BESTS In Weeks 10 and 11, running back Donald Brown contributed with several career-high numbers. Against St. Louis (11/10), Brown scored the first receiving touchdown of his career, while tying a career-high in receptions (five) and posting his second-highest total in receiving yards (64). The following week on Thursday Night Football at Tennessee (11/14), Brown recorded a career-high two rushing touchdowns in the game, while contributing with season highs in rushing attempts (14) and yards (80). UNDER PRESSURE Outside linebacker Robert Mathis leads the league with 15.5 sacks this season. Since 1982, Mathis has posted the most sacks by a Colts player through the first 12 games of any season. He has also recorded the ninth-most sacks through 12 games in NFL history. Pagano is also tied for the longest such streak in franchise history to start a career with Don McCafferty who began his tenure with the Colts by recording 28 consecutive games without consecutive losses from Sept. 20, 1970 to Dec. 19, 1971.
