Hospital Ministry Updates – PGH Outreach Program
SYA PGH Ministry Manila Zoo Field Trip

Several days of thunderstorms during
the week got us worried that the field
trip would not be able to push through.
Saturday dawned with perfect looking
skies - bright and blue but with some
clouds so as not to make it too hot for
the kids.
Everyone was in high spirits as we
met at the entrance of Manila Zoo. We
were joined by children and mothers, all
excited to be able to go around and see
the animals. Most of them had not visited
the zoo yet and this was a major treat for
them already!
We were lucky to meet a volunteer
group who were advocates of saving
Mali, the only elephant, not just in Manila
Zoo, but for the entire country! We
were given the opportunity to go up close
to Mali, touch her and feed her. That really
set the tone for the group, with the
kids even more excited with their tour!
We had to go through our tour slowly,
not just because of the numerous pictures
the mothers took of the animals and
their children, but also because these kids
are discharged patients from the Pediatric
The Hospital Ministry of Santuario
de San Antonio does regular visits
to the pediatric wards of PGH every
Tuesday to give out food and drinks to the
patients/watchers and prescribed meds
to patients. This is part of its mission to
help out and to share its blessings to the
sick and needy.
Last June 11, 2013, members of the
Single Young Adults, one of the youth
groups of our parish, joined. They are

This was the
first field trip of
the year done by
the Single Young
Adults of Santuario
de San Antonio,
one out of
the many different
activities that they
do on a monthly
basis with PGH.
This was a very fun and light activity,
with everyone - mothers, children and
volunteers alike - enjoying and having
the time to catch up with each other and
get support from one another.
The big smiles, lit up faces and
squeals of excitement were the biggest
thanks we could have gotten from the
children! Hearing them exclaim, "Ang
ganda-ganda naman dito," was reward
enough for all the planning, preparation,

also quite active in supporting
the Hospital Ministry and have
activities of their own with
PGH. They helped in giving
out the food, drinks and meds,
and mingled and talked to the
patients and their parents, who
appreciated being visited by
the group.
The SYAers also donated
some school supplies and treats
to the grade school students of
the Silahis ng Kalusugan School in the
hospital premises. The students enjoyed
the treats and were thankful, not just for
the supplies, but also having their Ate's
and Kuya's visit them in their newly built
classroom.
We would like to thank Mrs. Doris
See for the hotdog sandwiches that we

mothers were also very grateful for having
been invited to join, and it was nice
to see how thankful they were for such a
simple treat.
