There’s amazing power in a community that comes together to support the things they love. The KEXP Community, led by the
investments of more than 12,800 donors, fueled our ability to serve these three distinct, yet interconnected communities — all
with a goal of enriching lives through great music.
We all have a stake in the future of KEXP, which is why we wanted you to help inform our work during our strategic planning
process. More than 4,000 people provided us with their thoughts on a strategic vision for KEXP, assessing KEXP’s strengths,
assets, and future opportunities to serve our community better. All this good work, shepherded by our partners at McKinsey
and Company, KEXP staff, Governing Board members, Advisory Council members, and volunteers, led us to November 2008,
when the KEXP Governing Board approved a three-year strategic plan to expand KEXP’s online service offerings and envision
and create a new home for KEXP.
Helping KEXP end the year on a high note, the College Music Journal presented KEXP with five awards, including “Best Asset
to the Community,” “Most Likely to Reinvent Radio,” and, for the fifth year running, “Best Radio Station.” These awards,
particularly the first two, are testaments to the power our community holds, and the great responsibility we all have to remain
staunch advocates for a more musically inspired world. Working together, we can be confident that KEXP will continue to be a
vibrant place where independent voices and sounds can be heard.
