Scholarship Awarded
The John Anthony
Little Scholarship has
been awarded to
Samantha Denny, a
graduating senior at J.F.
Webb High School. The
scholarship was
established by Paige
Little and Royster, Cross
and Hensley, LLP, and is
administered by the
Granville County
Community Foundation,
an affiliate of the North
Carolina Community
Foundation.
Denny, the daughter
of Timothy and Sonya
Denny, plans to attend
East Carolina University
to major in Business and
Special Education. The
scholarship was awarded
at a school ceremony on
last month.
The selection was
made by a committee
comprised of volunteers;
school officials; a
representative from
Royster, Cross and
Hensley, LLP; a
representative of the
Granville County
Community Foundation;
and Little.
“Samantha’s essay
and her record of
community service
impressed the
committee, and she
embodies the character,
work ethic and desire to
give back to the
community that this
scholarship was
established to recognize,”
said Little.
The John Anthony
Little Memorial
Scholarship was
established in 2010 to
honor the memory of
John, a Granville County
native and J.F. Webb
graduate who passed
away in a tragic car
accident in November of
2008. The $5000
scholarship provides an
opportunity for a
graduating Webb senior
who demonstrates a sense
of moral obligation to the
world around them. The
recipient will pursue a
degree from an accredited
institution (four-year, twoyear,
or community
college or university).
