POTENTATE MESSAGE
From the Potentate
January came in with a
vengeance and left on the same
note with a nasty storm to start
February.
I lost an uncle, Richard
Moran, a 50-year Mason, and the
city of Indianapolis lost IMPD Officer,
David Moore.
I would like to thank
Worshipful Master J. Keith Henry for
getting the large turnout to give
Masonic Rites for my uncle. Many
individuals took off work in the middle
of the afternoon; thank you my
brothers. Walter, I want to thank you for
doing the rites. It was well done.
On a separate note, I would like to
honor the Highlanders. Four of the
Highlanders braved the elements and took
part in the funeral ceremonies for Officer
Moore. Your actions are not only honorable,
but commendable.
With the actions of Lodge 123 and the
Highlanders, it certainly proves that “We are
Family.”
I would like to thank our Chief Rabban,
Charlie Crabtree, for stepping up to the plate
and chairing the circus at the last minute.
Charlie, assisted by Randy Kron and 31 other
committee chairs, did a great job. I want to
thank everyone who worked to assist in the
setup, teardown, and worked to sell novelties
or in any other capacity. I would
also like to thank Noble Jim
Hamid for bringing us many
great acts. Thanks, nobles and
ladies all.
Membership is a large
commitment to me. Carl
Culmann is chairing that committee
and has great ideas. There are currently
6,500 Shriners at Murat. If
you all bring one new member, it
would be great. I ask the active
ones to “Bring Kevin 11.” If you
bring 11 or more, we will bring the
ceremony to your Club.
This month I would like to honor our
third president, Thomas Jefferson. It is undisputable
that he was an active Mason and a distinguished
leader.
Mark your calendars for April 9. We will
have a presentation for the Potentate’s trip to
Las Vegas at 4 p.m. at the temple. Hors d’oeuvres
will be provided and then you can stay
for Texas Hold’em and practice for the trip!
Please join us.
Remember ... “We Are Family.”
Yours in the Faith,
Kevin D. Rhodes
