Maths High Level Assessment Criteria
There are 3 examination papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), on consecutive days and each take 90
minutes to complete. Each paper contributes 35% for the final grade. Paper 3 is taken some days
later. It is one hour long, based on the chosen HL Option topic, and constitutes 20% of the final
assessment.
The remaining 20 % comes from two pieces of internally graded and externally moderated
coursework tasks – Type I (mathematical investigation) and Type II (mathematical modelling).
The assessment criteria for these are listed in the tables below.

Homework
M1 and M2 will have a graded homework assignment every 2 weeks. This will usually be a
longer piece of work (approx 30 – 45 mins) than the normal homework set – we aim to set a
minimum of 2 home-works per week. Work books will be collected and a comment made
approximately each 2 weeks. The homework tasks may be written on separate sheets, in the back
