THIS IS OUR WORLD
This is our world. Deafening gun shots ring through the streets while a dictator stubbornly
clings to power – this is our world.
A detested enemy of the past yet a certain friend of the future, war is quickly declared
despite talks of peace – this is our world.
One might be tempted to say – “no, not here; we are at peace.” Pause for a moment to listen
to the knock at the door – it is the knock of perpetually rising oil prices accompanied by
unwanted guests of fear and frustration. As if this was not sufficiently disturbing, spinning
winds of over 200 miles per hour tear through homes and hearts alike, leaving behind
an overwhelming after taste of loss and pain. To add to these unforgiving circumstances,
we may also wonder why oceans would rise up like army skyscrapers marching forward
and clearing everything in their path – lives, cars, buildings, any and all that can be
imagined. This is our world.
As an added bonus, there is a race between personal income and expenses where the battle
seems fixed due to factors outside our control – sudden yet prolonged unemployment,
unplanned medical bills, education loans, family obligations, an undying mortgage, a
struggling economy and don’t forget those gas prices. If this is our world, is there an
escape? In the midst of certain chaos, is there a guarantee of peace? Is there a stamp of
all-rounded success? Yes, there is a way that is tested and true – Jesus Christ is that way.
Isaiah 40:3 (NKJV) says, “The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of
the LORD; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”
Join the Voice of One as we take the timeless gospel message all over the Greater Toronto
Area over four weekends in the month of July.
