Ultimate Dodgeball Tournament
Back in July, 45 Year 7 & 8 students from Devizes
School battled it out in an ‘Ultimate Dodgeball’
Tournament for the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
The initiative organised by the BHF, aims to
promote the importance of maintaining a healthy
heart through regular exercise whilst raising vital
funds for its fight for every heartbeat. The
sponsored knock out tournament saw duck, dive
and dodge in the fast paced game, showcasing the
skills they have been working on over the past few
weeks.
Head of PE & Health Faculty, Mr Lund said “We
loved hosting the Ultimate Dodgeball Tournament.
Over the past few weeks the students have been
working really hard securing sponsorship to take
part in the event and between them have raised
over £840. Ultimate Dodgeball has proved to be a
fantastic and fun way to get children active as well
as help BHF to raise vital funds to support its life
saving research into coronary heart disease, the
UK’s single biggest killer”.
Tens of thousands children take part in the Ultimate
Dodgeball tournament initiative each year. It raises
money to not only support the vital work of the BHF.
Mr O Clements - PE Assistant
International Rugby trip to
Kingsholm Stadium, Gloucester
On Saturday 5th September Mr Lund, Mr Herring,
Mr Clements & ex-student Amie Hayden-Smith took
30 students to the Kingsholm Rugby Stadium in
Gloucester to watch an international match between
Japan & Georgia.
It was a brilliant day with the students enjoying lots
of new experiences. On arrival we were shown into
the chairman’s hospitality suite where we given the
opportunity to watch the England V Ireland Rugby
World Cup warm up match. After that we were
taken down onto the pitch to complete a parade
around the pitch where we were clapped by all the
supporters. It was then time for the match to start so
we formed a guard of honour as the players ran
onto the pitch which was very exciting. We then
settled down into our excellent seats and enjoyed
the game which Japan won by just a few points in
the last minute with a
great try!
As the players left the
pitch we stayed behind
for photos and to say
hello to the players. We
then made our way
back to Devizes.
All in all it was a great
experience which we
will remember for many
years and we wish
Japan and Georgia all
the best in the upcoming Rugby World Cup (but not
against England)!
