What’s Going on in Sixth Form?
Sixth Form Ambassadors:
With the new school year we welcome our new
Sixth Form Ambassador Team into their roles.
Devizes Sixth Form use the term Ambassador to
match the title used at many universities for their
representatives. This group of students will be
working hard to organise both charity and Sixth
Form social events. You will find these students
wearing their t-shirts at many events in the school
year including Sixth Form Open Evening and Sports
Day. When visiting us, please feel free to ask these
students for help or information about the Sixth
Form or Devizes School as a whole. They will
always be happy to help.

Digital Champions:
Every year, students from Year 12 are invited to
volunteer at Devizes Library to be Digital
Champions. Our students will assist those in the
community with less experience of using a
computer, whether it be with setting up email or
accessing online resources. The programme, run
by Mike Strong, Volunteer Co-ordinator, is so
popular that there is currently a waiting list for the
community to access the service. Our students
have worked brilliantly for several years in this
project and we see it growing stronger with each
passing year.

So what happened to our Year 13 leavers?
Back in August, our Year 13 Sixth Form students
got their A level exam results, an event filled with
anticipation and some trepidation by everyone
involved! Pleasingly the results went very well and
the vast majority of students gained the grades
necessary for their next step.
That next step can follow a variety of different paths
and this year was no exception. We have students
who are pursuing careers and training abroad in
addition to those in Britain. 83% of students are
going onto higher education at a range of
Universities, primarily in the South West, but also
across the UK. Of those students, 14% were able
to accept offers from Russell Group Universities.
As you might expect, a wide range of courses are
being started as this article is written. Examples
include Physics at Exeter; Ancient History at Cardiff;
Fine Art at Bath Spa; Chemistry with Industrial
Experience at Heriot Watt and Digital SFX at Edge
Hill. A wide range, we think you will agree! By the
time you read this many parents in Devizes will
have dropped their sons/daughters off at University
for the first time and be coming to terms with some
changes at home as a result.
The remaining students have selected other paths
which include apprenticeships or employment with
local and national businesses. Gap year students
are venturing as far afield as Australia and Canada,
before returning to commence Higher Education.
We wish them the very best in the next stage of
their lives and are proud of their success whilst with
us.
It would be fantastic to hear of their future success
too!
