1920 – 2015<br />

Nellie Olene Elmer passed<br />

away on Monday October 12,<br />

2015 at Chez Nous at the age<br />

of 95. Nellie was born at Waskatenau,<br />

Alberta. She served<br />

in the Army during WWII.<br />

She lived in Weyburn with her<br />

family and then moved to Moose Jaw. She is predeceased<br />

by her husband Charles; infant daughter;<br />

parents Allen and Lauren Sampson and a brother<br />

Alister Sampson. She will sadly missed by<br />

her daughter Donna (Bill) Wiens; grandson Cory<br />

(Shari) Birley; granddaughter Shelley (Dwight)<br />

Nyland; four great-granddaughters, Kristen (Matt)<br />

Adams, Lauren Birley, Abbey and Emily Nyland;<br />

great-great-granddaughter Summer Adams; two<br />

sisters Lillian Rath and Ellen Pierce of Ontario; and<br />

one brother Gordon Sampson of BC. The Funeral<br />

Service will be held at W. J. Jones & Son Chapel,<br />

106 Athabasca St E., on Wednesday October 21,<br />

2015 at 1:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Interment<br />

will take place at Rosedale Cemetery. For<br />

those so wishing memorial donations may be made<br />

to the Alzheimer Association. In living memory of<br />

Nellie, a memorial planting will be made by W. J.<br />

Jones & Son Funeral Home. Please sign the memorial<br />

Mr. Clifford R. Chislett of<br />

Moose Jaw passed away suddenly<br />

on Tuesday October 13,<br />

2015 at the age of 86. Born<br />

August 17, 1929 at Bethany,<br />

Manitoba. He married Shirley<br />

(Montgomery) in Surrey, BC<br />

on October 19, 1957. Clifford<br />

and Shirley enjoyed many a car ride in the countryside.<br />

Cliff served as an Air Force Technician for<br />

33 years with the R.C.A.F. He served in Trenton,<br />

Ontario, Zweibrücken, Germany, Calgary, Alberta,<br />

Cold Lake, Alberta and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.<br />

In 1985 he joined the Commissionaires retiring<br />

from SIAST in 2001. After SIAST he enjoyed<br />

many hours of Bridge with his Wednesday afternoon<br />

Bridge Boys. He is predeceased by his parents<br />

Alfred and Laura; daughter Kari Lea; two brothers<br />

and two sisters. Clifford will be sadly missed by his<br />

wife Shirley and son Darin. A Graveside Service<br />

will be held on Monday October 19, 2015 at 11:00<br />

AM at Rosedale Cemetery. For those so wishing<br />

may join us at the gates of Rosedale Cemetery at<br />

10:50 AM. Della Ferguson will officiate. Royal Canadian<br />

Legion Rites conducted by Dan MacAulay.<br />

Charles Alan Emerson, aged<br />

101 years of Central Butte,<br />

SK, passed away peacefully<br />

on Sunday, October 11th,<br />

2015 with his loving daughter<br />

Linda and son-in-law Ron<br />

by his side. Al was born May<br />

11th, 1914 on the family farm<br />

3 miles north of Central Butte. After graduating<br />

high school he went to Normal School in Moose<br />

Jaw in 1934-35. Al proceeded to teach school for<br />

the next 35 ½ years. His teaching career began in<br />

the Littleville School (1936-40), the Butte View<br />

School (1941-42, 1947-50) and finally in the Central<br />

Butte School from 1950-78. During this time<br />

he taught many children and in several instances,<br />

taught one or two generations of the same family.<br />

Al served his country by enlisting in the RCAF.<br />

In 1943 he was stationed in Saskatoon, transferred<br />

to Lachine, Quebec in 1944, and then on to Yorkshire<br />

and Devonshire, England from 1944-46. Al<br />

married Fae Snider in October 1939. He married<br />

Audrey Robertson in March 1972. The Legion<br />

was a big part of Al’s life. He served as Secretary-Treasurer<br />

of the Central Butte Legion #213<br />

from 1950-81 and was a Life Member since 1981.<br />

He also served his community by acting as Secretary-Treasurer<br />

of the Central Butte Ambulance<br />

Board from 1985-94 and was one of the founding<br />

members of the Lions Club. He was a member of<br />

the Central Butte Masonic Lodge #114 (AF&AM)<br />

from 1952-90, during which he served in several<br />

capacities including Master of the Lodge. Al enjoyed<br />

life, liked to dance and socialize with family<br />

and friends. He enjoyed watching the Blue Jays<br />

and also curling. He was predeceased by his parents,<br />

Thomas and Lucy Emerson; brother, Lloyd;<br />

first wife, Fae; second wife, Audrey; and son, Gorald.<br />

Al will be lovingly remembered by his son,<br />

Blain (Laurel) of Hudson Bay; daughters: Brenda<br />

(Earl) Stirling-Brown of Nipawin and Linda (Ron)<br />

Colwell of Central Butte; grandchildren: Kimberly,<br />

Jeffrey, Ryley, Darren, Darla, Devin, Gillian, Stacey,<br />

Carla and Marty; 14 great-grandchildren; stepson<br />

and step-daughter, Bill Robertson and Diana<br />

McMillan and her children Cameron and Janelle.<br />

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October<br />

24th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Central Butte<br />

United Church with Pastor Doug Neufeld officiating.<br />
