Like most US companies throughout the marine, automotive, and aviation industries, Moeller offers a nonchromate
alternative as an engine primer. Zinc phosphate is simple to use and delivers comparable performance
in the marine environment.
Moeller’s Zinc Phosphate Primer
Our self-etching phosphate primer is chromate-free and
chemically bonds with aluminum and steel to form a
corrosion-resistant base coat. It exceeds 800 hours of
the 5% salt spray corrosion test, and is ideal for spot
repair of damaged coatings. Best of all, Moeller’s zinc
phosphate primer performs as well as the zinc chromate
of old, and makes an excellent—and safe—alternative.
Salt Spray Corrosion Verification
Moeller verified the performance of zinc phosphate through
salt spray corrosion testing, a standardized method used to
compare materials and coatings in a corrosive environment.
Because the test results are repeatable—and accurately reflect
field conditions—the process is widely used throughout the
military, as well as in the the marine, automotive, aircraft, and
equipment manufacturing industries.
