Language Programs at a Glance
Imagine bargaining with your improved language skills in a market in Peru, effortlessly
ordering at a café in Barcelona or speaking with local children while playing games with
them in Costa Rica. Whether it’s in a classroom with friends or in town with native speakers,
we offer different styles of learning to help you improve your language skills.
Q: How will my language level be
determined?
Q: For programs with classes,
what are they like?
Q: I’m studying Italian and
French, what is available for me?
A: In Spain and Costa Rica, you have a verbal
and written assessment at the outset to place
you at your proper level. Classes in Costa Rica
are up to 5 students per class, open to beginners
through advanced levels. In Spain classes are 6 to
10 students per class and one year previous study
of Spanish is required. In Peru, students must
have one year prior Spanish experience and there
are no formal classes so no levels are assigned.
A: In class the emphasis is on
speaking, really using Spanish in
conversations, with less focus on
grammar and vocabulary. Through
activities and fun exercises, the
goal is to advance your comfort
and capability speaking aloud.
Outside the classroom the
program is run in Spanish
by your leaders.
A: You have great opportunities to study
and live in either Florence or Montreal on our
Pre-College Enrichment programs. In addition
to language class, you can practice in day to day
conversations immersed in these cities.

Spain Language & Pre-College
Enrichment Barcelona?
Q: I have already taken Spanish
in school, will I still
improve?
A: We use community service
projects and cultural immersion to
bring you into situations where
you need to speak Spanish. This
along with daily conversations
with your leaders, guides, at
restaurants, and in day-to-day
life inevitably leads to greater
fluency and increased confidence.
A: All students on Spain Language take
Spanish classes and experience recreational
and cultural activities together. It is a
language program that is run in Spanish even
outside of the classroom and you see more
of the country. On Pre-College Enrichment
Barcelona, Spanish is a very popular course
choice but not required and not all students
take it.

I couldn’t imagine a better
