Dr. Mathias Kirchmer is Executive Director<br />
for Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Process M<strong>an</strong>agement<br />
(BPM) at Accenture. He leads the global<br />
BPM-Lifecycle Practice, as well as<br />
the program for the development <strong>of</strong><br />
Accenture’s Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Process Reference<br />
Model Repository across <strong>in</strong>dustries <strong>an</strong>d<br />
functional areas. His special field <strong>of</strong><br />
expertise is to set up BPM capabilities<br />
that deliver both immediate benefits as<br />
well as durable competitive adv<strong>an</strong>tage.<br />
Before jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Accenture, Dr. Kirchmer<br />
had been for 18 years with IDS Scheer,<br />
a lead<strong>in</strong>g provider <strong>of</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess process<br />
excellence solutions, known for its<br />
BPM s<strong>of</strong>tware, the ARIS Platform.<br />
He was a member <strong>of</strong> the Extended<br />
Executive Board, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g roles<br />
as CEO Americas, Jap<strong>an</strong>, <strong>an</strong>d Chief<br />
Innovation <strong>an</strong>d Market<strong>in</strong>g Officer.<br />
Dur<strong>in</strong>g his career, Dr. Kirchmer has<br />
developed deep knowledge <strong>in</strong> approaches,<br />
methods, tools <strong>an</strong>d s<strong>of</strong>tware for the design,<br />
implementation, execution <strong>an</strong>d controll<strong>in</strong>g<br />
<strong>of</strong> bus<strong>in</strong>ess processes. He has applied<br />
this know-how <strong>in</strong> comp<strong>an</strong>ies <strong>of</strong> various<br />
sizes <strong>an</strong>d <strong>in</strong>dustries around the world.<br />
Dr. Kirchmer is <strong>an</strong> affiliated faculty<br />
member <strong>of</strong> the Program for Org<strong>an</strong>izational<br />
Dynamics <strong>of</strong> the University <strong>of</strong><br />
Pennsylv<strong>an</strong>ia as well as a faculty member<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Bus<strong>in</strong>ess School <strong>of</strong> Widener<br />
University, Philadelphia.<br />
In 2004 he won a research fellowship<br />
from the Jap<strong>an</strong> Society for the Promotion<br />
<strong>of</strong> Science. He is the author <strong>of</strong> numerous<br />
publications, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g five books. The last<br />
one is entitled “High Perform<strong>an</strong>ce through<br />
Process Excellence – From Strategy<br />
to Operations” <strong>an</strong>d was published <strong>in</strong><br />
November 2008.<br />
Dr. Kirchmer holds a PhD <strong>in</strong> Information<br />
Systems from Saarbruecken University<br />
(Germ<strong>an</strong>y), a Masters <strong>in</strong> Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />
Adm<strong>in</strong>istration <strong>an</strong>d Computer Science<br />
(“Wirtschafts<strong>in</strong>genieur”) from Karlsruhe<br />
Technical University (Germ<strong>an</strong>y) <strong>an</strong>d a<br />
Masters <strong>in</strong> Economics from Paris-IX-<br />
Dauph<strong>in</strong>e University (Fr<strong>an</strong>ce).<br />
