FLEET MANAGEMENT AT THE CLICK OF A MOUSE
MAN TeleMatics ® offers active vehicle and fleet monitoring on the World Wide Web without the need for
additional software. Fleet owners can manage their vehicles in a user-friendly manner and have a transparent
birds-eye-view of the current operations while monitoring driver behaviour.
Fleet management reports are easy to generate and provide information on the performances of vehicles and
drivers. Performance grading provides a convenient means of establishing performance benchmarks and
targets for drivers with customizable KPI profiles for select operations.
Owners may be notified of selected event flags and alerts via email. An accelerometer on the control unit
detects aggressive driving techniques such as harsh turning, acceleration and braking.
As a standard feature, MAN TeleMatics ® includes stolen vehicle tracking and recovery services in Sub-
Saharan Africa through our trusted partner: Cartrack (Pty) Ltd, one of South Africa’s leading stolen vehicle
recovery service providers.

MAN ProfiDrive ®
The main objective of any driver is to ensure that they arrive safely at their destination while using as little
fuel as possible and with minimal wear and tear to the vehicle. MAN ProfiDrive ® ensures that its training
programs and methods are well-aligned with these objectives.
MAN vehicles have been equipped with advanced features to facilitate easier vehicle operation. For example,
the MAN Brakematic system coordinates and harmonizes the application of the wear-free braking systems.
By correctly applying this feature to their driving style, drivers can effortlessly minimize brake pad and lining
wear, while safely and effortlessly descending steep hills.
ROLLOVER PREVENTION TRAINING
Through our strategic partner: RAC Driving Solutions, rollover prevention training programs can be
arranged through their ART (Advanced Road Craft Training) initiative. Rollover prevention is practically
demonstrated with trainees on board an MAN TGS truck tractor and a specially designed rollover trailer.
This form of training has been shown to dramatically reduce the risk, occurrence and significant costs
associated with rollover events. Trainers are certified through TüV Rheinland of Germany, ensuring that
training complies to suitably high standards.
With MAN ProfiDrive ® , our pool of professional driver trainers are committed to ensuring your drivers receive
expert instruction on how to effectively operate such systems and apply the various functions, thereby
achieving the best results from your MAN vehicle. This product-specific focus ensures that your drivers
become fluent with the operating controls and can target lower operating costs and improved safety.
MAN ProfiDrive ® offers a variety of flexible training options to suite your business. These include
but are not limited to:
VEHICLE INSTRUCTION AND PRACTICAL TRAINING
This one-day, hands-on training session is generally done at the point of handover of the vehicle
delivery phase. Drivers are given a healthy dose of hands-on practical training through explicit vehicle
familiarization and demonstration of the various features and controls. Drivers then put what they’ve
learnt into practice by driving the vehicle over a suitable distance under the guidance of the trainer.
ROUTE AND OPERATION BENCHMARKING
Upon arrangement, MAN Driver Trainers can assist in establishing trip time and fuel consumption
targets for a pre-defined route and operating scenario. Combined with MAN Telematics ® , suitable
parameters for KPI profiles can be established for specific routes and operations.
“ON-THE-JOB” TRAINING
At MAN we understand that it is not always feasible to withdraw your drivers from their day-to-day
tasks and responsibilities. Upon arrangement, MAN Driver Trainers can provide product-specific
training en route, which can be well combined with route and operation benchmarking.

MAN PROFIDRIVE ® TRAINING MODULES
ProfiDrive ® is MAN’s international driver training institution with over 30 years’ of training experience and
125 trainers in 32 countries. Accredited by TüV Süd, the DVR and certified for Europe’s stringent BKrFQG
- the legal requirements for the qualification of professional drivers - this wealth of knowledge is now
available in South Africa with a select range of driver training courses:
Basics:
This one day course comprises a theory session covering a brief introduction to the correct operation of the
various vehicle features. A hands-on practical session follows to ensure that the theory is well cemented in
the minds of participants and that they can demonstrate their understanding practically on the vehicle.
Economy:
This one day course kick-starts with trainees performing a short trip on a fully laden vehicle along a predefined
route. It then follows with a theory session covering economic driving principles and techniques
aimed at targeting minimal fuel consumption on MAN vehicles. Hereafter, trainees test the theory they have
learnt by repeating the route and comparing their results. Participants can expect to have fuel economy
demystified and be impressed with their improvement.
It is said that “the worm must be tasty for the fish, not the fisherman”; at MAN Truck and Bus, South Africa,
our training content on these ProfiDrive ® courses have therefore been well-customized for your specific
MAN models, and trainers focus on relating all material to your current operations – so no time is wasted
on irrelevant information.
MAN ProfiDrive ® courses are conducted at our training facility in Isando with a fully laden TGS rig however,
subject to prior arrangement, training can be arranged at your premises with your vehicles should you wish.
Apart from the knowledge and skills gained, trainees receive training material to refresh the lessons learnt,
a certificate of completion and an experience not to be forgotten.
Hill and Low Maintenance:
This one day course takes trainees through a deeper understanding of the techniques and precautions
they can take in order to minimize the natural wear and tear, as well as the risk of failures on vehicles.
Emphasis is placed on correct application of the MAN BrakeMatic ® system, as well as correct operation of
the auxiliary braking systems. Trainees test the theory practically on a dedicated route with a laden rig on
significant gradients to experience these features for themselves.
Intensive:
MAN Senior Driver trainers take your driver trainer through a series of intensive theory and practical
sessions over a three-day period. The primary focus is on ensuring that your fleet’s driver trainer becomes a
fluent operator of the vehicle and act as a repeater in relaying the lessons learned to your drivers.
Special - Off road:
This one day course comprises a theory session on prudent off road driving techniques and precautions,
as well as correct application of the various differential locks. Subject to prior arrangement, training is
performed on site with your specific vehicle in your operating conditions.

In a highly competitive environment with a host of considerations for your fleet, it is all too easy to
accidentally miss a service. This can result in unnecessary downtime due to resultant breakdowns and
inevitably compromises the vehicle’s warranty. At MAN, the wellbeing of your vehicle is our concern and
with MAN ServiceCare ® we aim to provide your fleet with the assistance needed to minimize the risk of
overdue services.
Supported by MAN TeleMatics ® and bundled with our various maintenance contracts, MAN ServiceCare ®
pro actively informs your designated fleet controller of approaching services; vehicle odometer readings are
obtained directly from the MAN TeleMatics ® system and due service notifications are sent automatically as
well as communicated telephonically as follows:
• Within 5000km from the due service, an SMS and email is automatically sent to the designated
individual responsible for scheduling services.
• Within 2000km from the due service, an MAN ServiceCare ® operator contacts the same individual
to remind and assist you in booking a service with your preferred MAN-certified workshop.
• Shortly after the due service mileage, the MAN ServiceCare ® agent makes contact again to
confirm that the due service was satisfactorily performed.
An added benefit is the reliable confirmation of monthly vehicle mileages. Processing of monthly
vehicle utilization can therefore take place seamlessly, timeously and effortlessly.

MAN Financial Services ® primary objective is to create a long term partnership with our customers by providing a unique selection of tailor made products and services specifically
designed to add value to your fleet operation. Our products include a range of Finance options and Comprehensive Insurance Solutions.
MAN Financial Services ® provides finance for Truck and Buses by customising a package in line with specific finance and insurance requirements suited to our customers’ operation.
Through our team’s collective expertise in the fields of finance, insurance, fleet and risk management, coupled with an extensive knowledge of the commercial industry, we pride
ourselves on our ability and flexibility in providing you with an appropriate comprehensive solution. With our headquarters in Johannesburg, Gauteng, MAN Financial Services ® ’ service
offering is supported by a team of Business Development Managers based in strategic regional locations throughout South Africa.
FINANCE SOLUTIONS
Any of the following finance options are available through MAN Financial Services ® and can be customised
to suit your specific business requirements.
INSTALMENT/SUSPENSIVE SALE
• Finance option for which regular monthly payments are made over a fixed contract period.
• The asset will reflect on balance sheet and finance charges and depreciation are fully tax deductible.
• Upon payment of the final instalment, ownership of the vehicle will be obtained.
• A deposit is normally required and the percentage requirement may vary.
• VAT is capitalised up front (VAT is handled differently for subsidised bus transporters).
LEASE
• This option allows the use of the vehicle for an agreed period for which regular monthly
payments are made.
• The asset will reflect on balance sheet.
• The option of taking ownership, or extend the finance agreement at the end of the initial
finance period in the case of a residual value.
• VAT is capitalised up front (VAT is handled differently for subsidised bus transporters).
RENTAL
• A Rental provides a cost-effective solution to customers requiring only the use of a vehicle
for a period which is shorter than the vehicles’ anticipated useful life.
• There is no risk of asset disposal.
• Accounting principles will determine whether the asset will reflect on or off balance sheet.
• VAT is not capitalised up front but is payable monthly.
• Rentals are fully deductible as an operating expense.
FULL MAINTENANCE LEASE (FML)
• Similar to a Rental, a Full Maintenance Lease provides cost effective and hassle free solution
to customers requiring the use of a vehicle for a period shorter than the asset’s anticipated useful
life with no disposal risk and the same accounting and VAT principles.
• In addition to the above, the cost of maintenance and service is calculated based on predetermined
set parameters and paid monthly for the agreed maintenance period in conjunction with the
monthly rental payment.
COMPREHENSIVE INSURANCE
Through capitalising on our MAN brand we offer a Value Proposition to our customers due to the vested
long term interest that we share with our customers by ensuring optimal insurance cover. Comprehensive
insurance offers cover against any accidental damage and or loss including accidental damage or loss to third
parties. Other lines of cover that you may require to protect other aspects of your business operation include:
• Passenger Liability - Protects you against costs and expenses for which you may be held liable,
in the event of death or bodily injury to a passenger travelling in your vehicle as a result of an accident.
Incorporating Personal Accident Cover – 24/7 injury cover to you, family member, and driver and
or passengers.
• Goods-in-Transit - Protects against accidental damage or loss of goods being transported
in your vehicle.

Value Added Benefits - Credit Protection and Excess Reducer Covers
DEPOSIT PROTECTOR
• Protect the cash investment that you have made when paying a deposit for your finance by
insuring the amount or a cover limit closest to your investment. In the event of a Total Loss due
to Theft/Hijack or Write-off of your vehicle a deposit reimbursement would be paid to you as per the
selected cover. This cover allows you to pay a deposit on your replacement vehicle, thereby placing
you in a position as close to where you were prior to the Total Loss of your vehicle.
PAYMENT PROTECTOR
• This option covers your finance instalments for a limited period following accidental damage to
your vehicle that may require lengthy repairs and therefore cause Loss of Income. This cover is
not available if the Loss of Use option has been selected.
CREDIT SHORTFALL AND VIOLATION COVER
• In the event of a total loss of your vehicle during the period of insurance, the Statutory Settlement
Balance would be paid by the Insurance Company, less any excess and other amounts due
by you. This could potentially result in the amount owed to a Financial Institution being greater
that the value of your asset thereby creating a shortfall. Credit shortfall cover would therefore
ensure that this shortfall is significantly reduced or paid in full. Where the terms and conditions
of the insurance policy is unintentionally violated resulting in a rejection of the claim, the Statutory
Settlement Balance would be paid less any deductibles due by you limited to your cover.
LOSS OF USE/DOWNTIME COVER
• This cover provides a weekly cash benefit for a limited period to reduce the loss of income
following accidental damage to your vehicle which may also require lengthy repairs. This cover
is not available if Payment Protector option has been selected.
TOTAL LOSS/OWN DAMAGE EXCESS REDUCERS
• These products are designed to reduce the excess payable by you on your underlying
comprehensive insurance policy in the event of accidental damage and or total loss up to
specified limits.
