Question: Where did you grow up
and tell us about a favourite childhood
memory?
Mrs Bartlett: Until I was about 7 years old
I lived in Mascot with my parents, brother
and grandparents.In the school holidays my
grandmother would take me and my brother
into the city. We would always have lunch at
Coles but in those days there was a cafeteria in
there and I would always have a meat pie, chips
and gravy with a chocolate milkshake. I don't
know how I ate all that.
Question: What did you want to be
growing up – did you always want to
be a teacher?
Mrs Bartlett: I really didn't know so when
I left school I worked in a bank for 15 years.
After having my 3 children I needed to get
back to work but needed a job with school
hours. I decided to ring around a few schools
in my area and I got a Teachers Aide job at
Daceyville Public School in the hearing impaired
unit which really suited me as my youngest
daughter is hearing impaired. I worked there
for about 5 years then moved on to Randwick
Public school.
Question: Did you enjoy school -
where you good at school or did you a
bit naughty?
Mrs Bartlett: I loved going to school because
I would be with all my friends. I always did my
school work and got along with my teachers.
Question: Tell us what it is you love
the most about being a teacher.
Mrs Bartlett: I love helping all the students
and seeing them improve everyday. I also enjoy
going around to all the different classes and
seeing all their wonderful work they do .
Question: If you could go on a
dream holiday anywhere in the whole
world where would you go and why?
Mrs Bartlett: My dream holiday would be to
go to Egypt and see the wonderful pyramids
and Sphinx. I would also like to see where my
parents and grandparents where born as they
were originally from Egypt. My grandmother
would tell me lots of stories about where she
grew up so I would like to visit those places.
Question: If you could pass on just
one piece of advice to all the kids at
school what would it be?
Mrs Bartlett: I would tell all the students to
enjoy being at school and make sure you learn
as much as you can. Be nice to everyone and
be happy.
