Arts for Health Cornwall and Isles
of Scilly (AFHC) has announced its
closure from the end of December for
financial reasons. Trustees cited the
‘increasingly challenging economic
climate for small charities’ as the
context within which this difficult
decision was taken.
AFHC has been at the forefront of
developing arts and health practice
in the county and nationwide, and
over 10,000 people have benefitted
from the projects and activities it has
offered over its 14 years of operation.
The charity hopes that the work it has
stimulated will be taken forward by
other organisations and individuals
so that the benefits of arts on health
and wellbeing can continue to be
demonstrated. The charity’s website
www.artsforhealthcornwall.org.uk will
remain up and running for the next six
months, so that people can continue
to get information, advice and support
as well as details of any existing
groups that will be continuing.
The doors close on 18 December, and
the charity’s Director, Jayne Howard,
is available until that date – email
jayne@artsforhealthcornwall.org.uk
or phone 01326 377772.
Cultural Threads is a creative arts
organisation that celebrates cultural
diversity in Cornwall. We are a
community interest company which
works in partnership with other
organisations to provide creativity,
heritage and learning projects. Cultural
Threads works with all children and
adults in a creative way to offer support,
learning and start conversations about
culture and diversity.
Cultural Threads has received Big
Lottery Funding to provide a new
website for diverse communities
living in Cornwall. We hope this will
be a valuable resource for everyone,
a place for people to connect via the
community forum to share ideas and
recommendations for each other and
to learn.
If you have any questions, suggestions,
recommendations or comments they
would be gratefully received either
direct to info@culturalthreads.co.uk
or via the community forum or contact
page on the website.
