Payment<br />

Deposit accounts: Customers may charge orders against their account with the <strong>Office</strong>. In<br />

such cases the deposit account number should be quoted on the order.<br />

Credit <strong>and</strong> debit cards: Payment can be made using the following credit <strong>and</strong> debit<br />

cards:Visa, MasterCard,American Express, Switch,Maestro(only if the card is issued by a<br />

UK Bank) <strong>and</strong> Solo.<br />

Cheque: <strong>The</strong>se should accompany any order, be crossed "Account Payee Only" <strong>and</strong> made<br />

National Security<br />

Attention is drawn to the provisions of section 23 of the <strong>Patent</strong>s Act 1977 (as amended by<br />

the <strong>Patent</strong>s Act 2004 with effect from 1 January 2005).<br />

Under these provisions, certain patent applications may NOT be filed abroad by a person<br />

resident in the United Kingdom, unless permission is obtained from the comptroller.<br />

<strong>The</strong>se are patent applications which contain information relating to military technology or<br />

information the publication of which might be prejudicial to national security or public<br />

safety. For such patent applications, permission to file abroad should be sought from the<br />

comptroller, unless an application for a patent for the same invention has first been made<br />

in the United Kingdom, <strong>and</strong> six weeks have elapsed from the date of such application <strong>and</strong><br />

no directions prohibiting publication or communication have been given or all such<br />

directions have been cancelled. Requests for permission from the comptroller to make an
