<strong>New</strong> College Welcomes<br />
Professor Ian Jacobs<br />
Professor Ian Jacobs commenced being<br />
the President and Vice-Chancellor of<br />
The University of <strong>New</strong> South Wales in<br />
February 20<strong>15</strong>. He succeeded Professor<br />
Fred Hilmer, who stepped down after<br />
eight years in the role. Professor<br />
Jacobs was warmly welcomed to<br />
<strong>New</strong> College as the guest speaker for<br />
the 20<strong>15</strong> Commencement Dinner on<br />
Wednesday 4th March 20<strong>15</strong>. He spoke<br />
to the community about plans for the<br />
future of The University of <strong>New</strong> South<br />
Wales and took questions from <strong>New</strong><br />
Collegians about role of the modern<br />
university and how it might contribute<br />
to solving significant challenges that<br />
the world is facing.
