The last aspect of LOTC is to provide a stepping stone for our cadets to the next phase of leadership skill development and application, the nationally acclaimed Flour Bluff NJROTC program. Cadets have the opportunity to join a myriad of competitive teams ranging from drill teams, air rifle shooting teams, academic teams, and athletic competition teams. There, they will be able to apply what they have learned in LOTC while on the teams and in the classroom. The cadets will have a chance be become part of a program that has a long history of competitive and academic success not only at the State level but at the National level as well. Read Right® Read Right (Reading Improvement) is a unique approach to teaching reading that enables students with reading problems to significantly improve their reading skills. This course takes the place of an elective. Career Planning During the 7 th grade year, students will be expected to develop a five year plan and will explore post-secondary training, i.e. community college, technical school, or college/university coursework. These plans are completed through the Exploring Careers classes. The counselors will also be working with the 8 th graders as they identity their values, strengths and abilities using the online ACT profile website. These inventories will assist them in determining what career options are best for them so that they may be better prepared to complete their field endorsements for graduation according to House Bill 5.
