HADRAT ABU BAKR
After several days of travel, about two or three miles from
Yathrib, they arrived at a place called Quba’ and stayed there.
Having arrived at Quba’, Hadrat Abu Bakr ra finally breathed a sigh
of relief. The news that the Holy Prophet sa had arrived at Quba’
quickly reached Yathrib, and people came out to meet him. As
many people had not yet met the Holy Prophet sa , they could not
tell which of the two of them, was the Messenger of Allah. When
Hadrat Abu Bakr ra realised that people mistakenly believed that he
was the Prophet of God, he got up and used a sheet to provide shade
for the Holy Prophet sa . Thus the people were able to recognize the
Holy Prophet sa . 15
Hadrat ‘Ali ra also came to meet the Holy Prophet sa at Quba’.
Here, the Holy Prophet sa built a mosque. After staying in Quba’ for
a few days, the Holy Prophet sa went on to Yathrib. This place, blessed
by being chosen by the Holy Prophet sa as his future home, was ever
afterwards known as Madinatun-Nabi (City of the Prophet), or
Madinah.
