Terminal, Dames Point Marine Terminal,
Talleyrand Marine Terminal and the
JaxPort Cruise Terminal. JaxPort’s three
marine terminals handle every type of
general and project cargo.
JaxPort also operates Jacksonville’s
passenger cruise terminal, which is
home to the Carnival Cruise Line.
JaxPort Cruise Terminal offers yearround
service from Jacksonville to the
Bahamas via four-day and five-day
cruises.
Besides JaxPort’s facilities at Blount
Island, Talleyrand and Dames Point,
about 20 privately owned marine
terminals move about 10 million tons
of cargo a year. One of the largest
is Horizon Lines Inc. (904-482-

American domestic ocean shipping and
logistics company that has accounted
for approximately 37 percent of all
U.S. container shipments linking the
continental United States to Alaska,
Hawaii and Puerto Rico.

formerly known as Sea Star Line LLC,
headquartered in Jacksonville, provides
high-speed integrated transportation
between the United States, Puerto
Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands and
the Eastern Caribbean islands of St.
Maarten, St. Kills, Antigua and Tortola.
In October 2015, TOTE Maritime
received the world's first LNG-powered
container ship, which will sail between
Jacksonville and Puerto Rico.

headquartered in Jacksonville, offers
international and domestic shipping
with primary international calls to San
Juan, Puerto Rico and Puerto Plata,
Dominican Republic.
The Port of Fernandina (904-261-

the Nassau County Ocean, Highway and
Port Authority, has annual visits by about
140 ships.
The Clay County Port (Reynolds
Industrial Park, 904-284-3676;
reynoldspark.com) handles import/
export operations and is linked
to air, rail, surface and sea-going
transportation. Reynolds Park is a 1,700-
acre complex located on the St. Johns
River in Green Cove Springs.
A cargo connection
Jacksonville-based Landstar (877-

global transportation system that
provides numerous transportation
carrier services across North America,
carrying everything from huge cranes to
U.S. mail to the tiniest of heart valves.
Other haulers based in Jacksonville
are Patriot Transportation Holding
Inc. (877-704-1776, patriottrans.
com), the subsidiary of which is
Florida Rock & Tank Lines Inc.
(floridarockandtanklines.com) serves
the southeastern United States as a
premier bulk carrier. In 2015, Patriot
Transportation Holding Inc. became
a separately traded public company
trading under the ticker symbol “PATI”
on the NASDAQ exchange. Florida Rock
& Tank Lines Inc. specializes in hauling
freight consisting mainly of petroleum
products and other liquid and dry bulk
commodities.
The Suddath Companies (888-

freight transportation between the U.S.
mainland and Puerto Rico.
Greyhound
Greyhound Lines has a main
bus terminal located in downtown
Jacksonville, open 24 hours a day, as
well as other branches throughout
the Jacksonville area. Greyhound
offers assistance for customers with
disabilities, (800-752-4841), as well as
free Wi-Fi, individual power outlets, and
extra legroom on every bus.
Rental services
The Jacksonville area has various
taxi, limo, shuttle and rental services.
Taxi fares are $1.50 to start, then $1.85
for each mile. There is also typically
a $0.23 for each minute waiting time.
Please keep in mind rates differ between
taxi companies. Fares from Jacksonville
International Airport (JIA) are about
$28 to downtown Jacksonville; $45 to
the Beaches or Amelia Island; and $65
to St. Augustine. Shuttle fares from JIA
to downtown are about $18-$24 one
way; limos cost about $65. Jacksonville
also offers Uber, a taxi, private car or

rideshare service available via an app on
customers' phones.
A unique way to travel within
downtown Jacksonville is hopping
aboard one of the St. Johns River Taxis
(904-372-3318, jaxrivertaxi.com) that
cross the St. Johns River from The
Jacksonville Landing, the Southbank
Riverwalk at Friendship Fountain,
the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel, the
Lexington Hotel and Municipal Marina.
The Metropolitan Park Marina is only a
designated water taxi stop when events
are taking place at EverBank Field.
A historic ride
The St. Johns River Ferry (904-
241-9969, stjohnsriverferry.com), for
vehicles and passengers, which dates
back to 1948, is now under the wing of
the Jacksonville Port Authority. It runs
daily between Mayport and Fort George
Island. The Jean Ribault and its backup,
the Blackbeard, carry about 40 vehicles
and 200 passengers. The ferry operates
every day, including holidays.
