• St. Vincent’s Southside, formerly St. Luke’s
Hospital, was founded in 1873 by
three women who saw the need for
medical care in the community.
• St. Vincent’s Clay County, the third hospital,
opened in October 2013. St. Vincent’s
Riverside and St. Vincent’s Southside
both received ‘‘A’’ grades in hospital
safety from the Leapfrog Group. St.
Vincent’s Clay County has not been
open long enough to receive a grade.
University of Florida Health is the Southeast’s

St. Vincent’s Medical Center Southside,
formerly St. Luke’s Hospital, was the very
first private hospital in Jacksonville.

department, UF Health operates
TraumaOne, the only level 1 trauma
center in the area. With five bays to
receive trauma patients and 24/7
service, TraumaOne serves Baker,
Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns
counties, and part of Southeast
Georgia.
• UF Health North, new and state-of-the-art,
is an outpatient medical complex
in North Jacksonville. The facility
houses an emergency department,
a birth center, outpatient surgery,
radiology and rehabilitation services,
among others. The pediatric center
opened in July 2015. UF Health North
is ready to become an integral part
of the North Duval and Southeast
Georgia communities.
• UF Health Emerson Medical Plaza is a multiservice
outpatient center located
on Jacksonville’s Southside. The
center offers primary care, initial
evaluations, health screenings,
noninvasive to minimally invasive
procedures and advanced imaging.
As a part of the UF Health network,
the Emerson Medical Plaza provides
the Southside community with
conveniently located medical
services.
Specialty Hospital Jacksonville, established
in 1992, is a long-term acute care
hospital under Memorial Health — one
of approximately 300 in the nation.
The first of its kind in North Florida,
Specialty Hospital is for patients in need
of extended hospital stays with complex
medical conditions. The hospital’s goal
is to provide individualized, coordinated
care for its patients.
River Point Behavioral Health is a private facility
offering inpatient hospitalization,
partial hospitalization, rehabilitation
and intensive outpatient programs for
children and adults with psychiatric
problems and chemical dependencies.
Wekiva Springs Center offers specialized mental
health programs for men and women.
Each program is customized to meet
the needs of the individual and his or
her family. This facility understands the
different needs regarding care between
men and women and has specialized
programs for each individual. Programs
address mood disorders, anxiety
disorders, substance abuse and
chemical dependency. Detoxification
and rehabilitation treatments are also
available.
Hospice care
Community Hospice of Northeast Florida offers a
variety of resources to terminally ill
adults and children, and their families
at home, in long-term care facilities,
hospitals, short-term inpatient facilities
and at Community Hospice’s centers for
caring. The hospice consists of a team of
physicians, nurses, social workers, home
health aides, grief experts and trained
volunteers.
Haven Hospice has served the community
since 1979. Haven Hospice pioneered
freestanding hospice care centers in the
North Florida region. There are inpatient
care centers in Chiefland, Gainesville,
Lake City, Palatka and Orange Park.
Haven Hospice provides direction,
support and counseling for individuals
and families dealing with life-limiting
illness.
Heartland Hospice is part of the HCR
ManorCare family, a leading provider of
home health care, hospice care, skilled
nursing, memory care and post-acute
care. In Northeast Florida, Heartland
serves Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St.
Johns counties.
