Flagler Hospital is a 335-bed, acute care
hospital that has operated as a notfor-profit
health care institution in St.
Augustine since its founding in 1889.
The independent Leapfrog Group
recently gave Flagler an ‘‘A’’ grade for
patient safety. The hospital is consistent
in gathering high marks for patient
safety. The hospital plans to open a new
outpatient behavioral health clinic for
patients in need of psychiatric services.
Hope Haven Children’s Clinic and Family Center,
founded in 1927, focuses on outpatient
care of children with developmental,
psychological, behavioral or academic
achievement problems. This facility
provides services for children, families
and young adults with special needs.
Hope Haven serves more than 5,000
families each year.

Kindred Hospital North Florida, located in Green
Cove Springs, is an 80-bed fully accredited
long-term acute care facility. The hospital
offers a range of services for medically
complex patients who require continued
care and extended recovery time.

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville was established
in 1986, with a focus on treating complex
conditions and unraveling hard-to-solve
medical problems, pooling the knowledge
of physicians and scientists through
state-of-the-art electronics at its three
locations. Like Mayo’s other locations
in Rochester, Minn., and Scottsdale,
Ariz., the Jacksonville site has education
and research arms that complement its
patient-care services. Research is done
in such areas as Parkinson’s disease,
Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and more.
Mayo has the technologically advanced
da Vinci robot, which allows surgeons to
perform minimally invasive surgeries.
Mayo Jacksonville dedicated the first
center in the history of Mayo Clinic
devoted exclusively to cancer research in
February 2004; it has received the National
Cancer Institute’s highest designation as a
comprehensive cancer center. Mayo Clinic
Hospital is the admitting hospital for Mayo
Clinic’s campus in Florida. It has 304 beds
and 22 operating rooms and offers care in
more than 35 adult medical and surgical
specialties. The hospital includes a fullservice
emergency department, open to
everyone. Mayo recently received an ‘‘A’’
grade from Leapfrog Group for hospital
safety.
Memorial Hospital has been serving Northeast
Florida for more than 45 years now. The
hospital is a 418-bed acute care facility
offering a range of services, including 24-
hour emergency care at three different
locations around the Jacksonville area.
The hospital also features an accredited
Chest Pain Center, certified Stroke
Center, Heart Center, which treats over
10,000 patients annually, Bone and Joint
Center and Memorial’s maternity center,
Special Beginnings. In November of last
year, Memorial completed an expansion
and renovation to the emergency
facility adding five new private patient
rooms and two additional triage rooms.

Naval Hospital Jacksonville is a private medical
