“Get to know your
customer. Treat her like a
friend! It’s a win-win
situation: she’s more
likely to be a return buyer,
and now you have a
new friend! Bonus!”
Selling!
Stuck in a selling rut? Want to know what to do with
difficult buyers? We asked some of our most successful
sellers to share with us tips for being a selling
superstar on Vinted (including, yes, how to deal with
the inevitable lowball offer.)
SHIPPING
Personally, I ALWAYS walk my packages
right into the post office. That way, I
physically see them get scanned into
the system, and have a receipt to keep
as proof that I have shipped. That way,
if your package is lost, or is taking a
while to be tracked, you can be more
helpful and knowledgeable about the
situation to your buyer.
- Lindsey @lindseyfixit
Shipping response time is critical. Life
happens, and we can all relate, but a
buyer is usually rather impatient. A lot
of buyers purchase on a whim, or due
to an impulse, so to have to wait too
long to receive it just kills them. If possible,
ship it as SOON as you can. Take
your time to ensure it’s safely packed,
of course.
COMMUNICATION
If you receive a lowball offer, make a
counteroffer with the lowest price
you’re comfortable with. Accompany it
with a polite message like, “This is the
best I can offer for now, but I will definitely
keep you in mind!” This leaves
room for negotiation and keeps your
customer happy
- Jenny @jxie03
I am always prompt with responses to
buyer’s questions or offers. I offer to
measure items or take more pictures if
needed. Being timely and helpful
definitely makes the buyer more
comfortable with spending her hard
earned money. Whether the customer
is being nice or not, always be nice!
You never know if she will come back
or change her mind.
FEATURES
Push those items! I separate my
clothing listings by categories. T
shirts, pants, and swimsuits are all
together. Anytime I have a new pair
of pants to upload I just look
through my closet and push up all
of my pants so that the new pair is
in the category with the old and
the old that didn’t sell are now
pushed to the top and cheaper!
- Hailey @hailey.torrens
Using the push-up button can also
be very lucrative for you! Every
time you push an item up (i.e.
pushing the green button), all the
Vinties who liked it will get a notification
that the item’s price has
dropped. I generally do multiple
price-drops at once, instead of just
pushing up one item a day
- Molly @Prothrifter
PHOTOS
It’s always a great idea to model your
outfits or consider investing in a mannequin,
since it really helps provide a
buyer an idea of how it will look on
them which can go a long way. Or
when doing a flat lay, make sure the
surface is in contrast to the piece you
are displaying. Good lighting and at
least five images are a must!
- @fmello12
When an item has a print or a unique
detail, such as buttons on the shoulders
or an exposed zipper, be sure to
capture a close up! If an item is very
plain it might help to style it, whether
that be with another article of clothing
or an accessory. You can do this by
only styling the item for one of your
five possible shots.
- @shopmarrrina
Being honest will get you far! Take pictures
of even the most minuscule flaws
and buyers will be so appreciative.
Nobody likes receiving items that are
knowingly imperfect.
- Christa @burrsunshine
“Be professional but
friendly! Remember that
others see you on forums
and that you’re constantly
representing yourself!”
- Anna @xbitterfruit
“The secret to getting closet raids is
listing regularly, at all times of day
with clear photos, descriptions, in
demand items and also items in
great condition or that aren’t necessarily
designer but a good item at a
great price. I suggest listing 5 items
in the morning, afternoon and evening
and see if there is a good time
for you.”
