Creating a UK stillwater rod that is delicate enough for dry fly work
while also being able to set hooks 20 feet down on a fast sinking line is
impossible. That's why Airflo has produced two rods in their Blitz range of
premium fly rods – one for each purpose.
The 10ft 7wt is a superb top of the water rod. It loads quickly,
essential when covering a rising fish, and its tip is delicate enough
to protect light leaders.
When it comes to punching out a 40+ Fast Glass line as far
as possible, the 10ft 8wt does the job. It has a smoother
action than other comparable rods and makes the ideal
pulling tool – setting hooks easily at depth on a Di-8 line.
Both rods are four-piece, although the tight over lock
ferrules actually make them feel like a one-piece. They’re
made from high modulus carbon and are extremely lightweight.
