Miquel Gelabert (b. 1979)
Miquel Gelabert is a contemporary painter from a small city on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, north of Barcelona.
Although young, Miquel Gelabert has already had over ten years of success, winning a number of Spanish and European
awards. For two years, Franklin Bowles Galleries has shown Gelabert’s work in Manhattan, adding to his steadily
growing list of cities: Barcelona, London, Wupperthal (Germany), New York City and now San Francisco.
Miquel Gelabert’s unique painting style is modern and refined; evoking musical rhythm and the geometry of the urban
landscape. With carefully chosen color combinations and confident lines he achieves layers of depth that alternately
advance and recede as you view the artwork. Gelabert’s inspirations vary between seascapes, modern skylines, neon
lights and stars and digital technologies.
