Eduardo Arranz-Bravo (b. 1941)
Arranz-Bravo is an established artist living and working in Barcelona. Known for his tremendous talent as an oil painter,
his work is steeped in the tradition of the great Catalan artists who have come before him. He achieved success early,
being mentored by Joan Miró in the 60’s, and featured in a group show with Picasso at the famous Galerie Gaspar. You
can still see the influence of Miró in his current work, fifty years later. The common ground, though, is more likely to be
the uniquely crisp light in the Barcelona area, inspiring some of the 20 th Century’s greatest artists – Dali, Picasso, Miró
and now Arranz-Bravo. Although he has 40 years of exhibition history, his great accomplishment is the establishment
of the Fundacio Arranz-Bravo, his museum founded in 2009. His most recent museum exhibition, “Magnus”, a
retrospective of monumental paintings, is touring several museums in Spain in 2014-2015. His work can also be found in
prestigious museum collections such as the Reina Sofia and Museu d'Arte Moderna, São Paulo, Brazil.
Gottfried Salzmann (b. 1943)
Gottfried Salzmann is considered to be one of the most important European painters working today. He’s highly
regarded by the art establishment, by both art critics and museum curators, and was awarded the 2011 Austrian Cross
of Honor in Science and Art. He initially entered the public eye with his watercolors, and is considered one of the
greatest Austrian watercolorists. But he's never used the medium in a traditional sense; instead of depicting quiet,
pastoral landscapes he's chosen the city landscape as his primary subject matter. In his new work, he’s creating mixedmedia
pieces incorporating photography, etching, watercolor and collage. His subject matter is the streets and skylines
of the world's major cities, and his new collection is mostly of the "vertical landscapes" of San Francisco, Paris, Tokyo
and New York City. His most recent museum exhibition was a retrospective at the Salzburg Museum called “Cityscapes”
which took place in 2013.
His work can be found in prestigious museum collections including the Albertina Museum, Vienna, Austria; Museum
Seoul, Seoul, Korea; and the Bibliothèque Nationale de Paris, Paris, France.
Pierre Marie Brisson (b. 1938)
Pierre Marie Brisson, a contemporary artist with a studio in the South of France, was born in Orleans, France. He began
to show an interest in painting at the age of 14. He met and studied with painter Bernard Saby during his teenage years,
and then settled in Paris in 1979, to study James Coignard, Antoni Clave, Joan Miró, and Antoni Tapies.
With simplified figures and extensive texturing, Brisson's works have been inspired by cave drawings and primitive art.
Their timeless appearances represent a kind of archeological dig for the artist; he cuts, scratches and pierces the multilayered
surfaces of his canvases to reveal imagery from within the strata of these materials. His work has evolved
tremendously over the 30 years FBG has represented him. His newest inspirations include dance and botanical forms.
Brisson’s work can be found in important museums including the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, The Jewish
Museum, New York, George Page Museum, Los Angeles, Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris, Pushkin Museum, Moscow,
and the Paris Groupe Cartier, Paris.
Miquel Gelabert (b. 1979)
Miquel Gelabert is a contemporary painter from a small city on the Costa Brava in Catalonia, north of Barcelona.
Although young, Miquel Gelabert has already had over ten years of success, winning a number of Spanish and European
awards. For two years, Franklin Bowles Galleries has shown Gelabert’s work in Manhattan, adding to his steadily
growing list of cities: Barcelona, London, Wupperthal (Germany), New York City and now San Francisco.
Miquel Gelabert’s unique painting style is modern and refined; evoking musical rhythm and the geometry of the urban
landscape. With carefully chosen color combinations and confident lines he achieves layers of depth that alternately
advance and recede as you view the artwork. Gelabert’s inspirations vary between seascapes, modern skylines, neon
lights and stars and digital technologies.
