EAST AND WEST SHOWDOWN IN K-TOWN
On paper, you won’t find a more evenly matched
East vs. West contest than the one on the
ice tonight at Rogers K-Rock Centre. Their only
matchup so far this season was opening weekend
when the Frontenacs took the Knights to a shootout
win in London. Much has changed since then,
including the rosters for both teams with trades
made up to the deadline to ready these two for
postseason runs.
The London Knights, with their top line of Mitch
Marner (Toronto Maple Leafs), Christian Dvorak
(Arizona Coyotes) and Matthew Tkachuk who
have combined for 103 goals and 184 assists so
far this season. That matches up well against the
Frontenacs top line of Warren Foegele (Carolina
Hurricanes), Michael Dal Colle (New York Islanders),
and Spencer Watson (Los Angeles Kings).
The London Knights have 42 wins, 12 regulation
losses, 2 overtime losses, and 1 shootout loss
(to Kingston) , good for 87 points and 2nd place
in the Midwest Division (2 points behind Erie) and
3rd place in the Western Conference. In their past
10 games the Knights have 8 wins and 2 regular
losses and are undefeated in 4 straight games.
The Knights are a powerhouse at home, with only
3 losses at Budweiser Gardens, but have lost 9
games on the road.
The Kingston Frontenacs have 37 wins, 15 reg-
ulation losses, 2 overtime losses, and 2 shootout
losses in 56 games, good for 78 points, a 6 point
lead on Barrie for top spot in the Eastern Conference.
In the East Division, the Frontenacs have
wide 16 point lead over the Peterborough Petes.
In their past 10 games, the Frontenacs have 7
wins, 2 regulation losses, and 1 shootout loss.
300-POINT CLUB: Along with an Ivan Hlinka gold
medal, first round NHL Draft status, and a Memorial
Cup Championship ring, Michael Dal Colle
can add 300-point club member to his impressive
junior hockey accomplishments. This past
Sunday vs. Niagara, Dal Colle extended his point
streak to 14 games with a goal and two assists,
collecting his 300th career OHL point. Dal Colle
reached the 300-point mark in 236th career regular
season games.
