networks of any size, our Jade electronic program
guide (EPG) server lets you generate and assemble
powerful EPGs based on either DVB-SI tables or HTML Web pages.
Using it, any set-top-box can display the EPG you generate.
The Jade server can generate an EPG for any kind of architecture,
including small or large head ends. It can provide national or regional
program guides using advanced DVB-SI capabilities such as triggering,
automatic bandwidth management, multi-route capabilities, and more.
And when coupled with our Coral iTV broadcasting server, it forms a
complete EPG solution that can be leveraged by third-party applications
such as MediaHighway, OpenTV, MHP, and others.
EPG Generation
The Jade server supports numerous inputs for EPG generation, such
as XML files, binary files, file transfer protocol (FTP)-based and periodic
file transfers, and DVB-SI editor output. It can also accept live SI data
from an ASI input or from an Ethernet link using one of our real-time SI
data extractors. As a result, the EPG is updated in real time.
Triggering
The Jade server enhances the synchronization of audio/video content
and events via a trigger interface. This unique feature allows you to
activate Event Information Tables (EIT) present and following transitions
from external equipment, such as automation systems. The EPG can
therefore follow any modifications to the service plan in real time. As a
result, the synchronization is more accurate than if solely relying on the
server clock.

Automatic Bandwidth Management, Multi-Route
Capabilities
By automatically calculating the incoming SI data from
the different inputs and the prioritization of the SI tables,
the Jade server provides superior automatic bandwidth
management by reducing, when necessary, the EPG
depth and SI-tables scheduling with respect to your
bandwidth requirements. It also simultaneously addresses
several multiplexers through its multi-route capability. As
a standard function, the Jade server provides SI crosscarriage
features.

The Jade server enables video-over-IP/ADSL providers to
create HTML program guides to let subscribers choose
and access their favorite programs directly. It also enables
traditional broadcasters to automatically display their
program grids, with real-time thumbnail extraction, on their
Web sites.
Comprehensive Configuration and Supervision
A comprehensive and intuitive Web interface is available to
supervise and configure the Jade server. Using it, you can
review any actions, alarms, or warnings. An SNMP agent is
available for centralized monitoring.
