Year 7 Foundation Learning
This term 7FL will be researching
and learning all aspects of the
world’s Rainforests and their
unique conditions and habitats.
To start off the topic we have been
looking at conditions that affect
all areas of the globe, not just
rainforests. We have learned about
climate change and global warming.
We have researched how this
can affect us, the planet and the
people and animals that live in
different countries.
The students have written up their
own weather reports and presented
them to the class. They have made
information posters on Global
warming and the effect it has
on our planet.
One lesson was spent looking
at ‘A very hungry school’ which
shows how much energy and
resources are wasted every day.
The students had to come up
with ways to save energy, paper
plastic cups and books etc.
Hopefully we can put these
ideas into place and become
a ‘greener’ school.
The students have also created
a model showing the deforestation
and devastation to the rainforests
caused by cattle ranching, mining
and Palm Oil plantations.
In a recent lesson we started a
debate on the subject with some
students for and others against
deforestation, we are looking
forward to a lively debate.
