BILLY KIMMERLY The keys to a win for the Frontenacs tonight against the Hamilton Bulldogs will come down to how effective they are on three key points in their gameplan. 1. Role players chance to shine Tonight will be a chance for the third and fourth line players to step into the spotlight. Much like we saw last night, you can expect some of the regular top line guys to be rested in a game with no significance in the standings. This should bump everyone up one line and get some guys into the lineup that aren’t used to playing every night. Ryan Cranford, Cody Caron and Jason Robertson took advantage of the added ice time and all had great games last night against Oshawa. To get a win tonight Kingston will need more of that from those players and others. If Kingston can get contributions from guys like Zach Dorval, Austin Grzenia and Sam Field they should have enough to come away with a win. 2. Race to four goals While getting to the four goal mark will not guarantee a win for Kingston, based on the season series it will put them in a pretty good spot. In each of the five previous match ups between Kingston and Hamilton, the winner of the game has scored exactly four goals. If you look at Kingston’s season as a whole, when they score four goals or more in a game they are 33-3. It’s safe to say that if one team manages to score four goals tonight, there is a good chance that team wins this game. 3. Focus on the details Tonight is the final regular season game for the Frontenacs which means it is the last chance for a tune up before the playoffs start next Friday. Hard work and attention to detail all season has allowed Kingston to clinch the top seed in the East meaning this game can be looked at as a full speed practice. Play the system, run the breakouts, forecheck and use the cycle the way it has been coached all year. Kingston would like to win the game, but it is more important not to develop bad habits just before the playoffs begin.
