A Newsletter From
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Namaskar!
It gives me great pleasure to reach you through our
newsletter “Hindu Deep”.
Indeed it is a great honor and privilege to lead such a
great institution , Hindu Council of Kenya. This is the
44th year since the formation of this Apex body of
Hindu Institutions .
With the grace of God we have very dynamic and vibrant team and are continuously
doing several activities throughout the year to serve our members. We wish to acknowledge
that due to the tireless efforts of all the past leaders of Hindu Council ,our institution
is flourishing now and highly regarded by the Government ,Inter Religious organizations
and other bodies .
We have set three major goals to achieve this year.
(1) Liaison and interaction with all our member institutions
(2) More youth activities
(3) Revive and publish in-house news letter “Hindu Deep” periodically.
Our team has already started working towards the above goals and in line with our goal
this is the first issue of “Hindu Deep” this year . The task for this was given to Mrs. Aradhna
Trivedi and her team and I am happy to inform you that they are handling it very ably,
and you will be getting regular editions from now onwards.
For the past few years we have adopted new ways of communication using modern
technology. But we were getting requests from many members to have News Letter.
Although we are using our website, we also have wide e-mail database, social media
platform and sometimes local media print and electronics as well. Our aim is to be in
touch with you regularly and to keep you informed about our activities.
Hindu Council of Kenya through the various directorates are functioning well. We are
planning to organize seminars, cultural activities , registration of Certificate of Good
Conduct, National ID etc. , We are also assisting both Employers and employees with
job placement, Relief and Welfare is our ongoing activity , we promote Hindu religion
and culture and organize many events, we also carry out Hindu Religious Education in
many schools and have been doing it for many years , We have launched medical
scheme for our members with very affordable rates and with more enhanced benefits,
we also carry out environmental projects like tree planting etc. to name a few. Our five
upcountry branches are also doing great work, especially celebrations of Hindu Festivals
and they represent and liaise with government offices in their counties . More
specific details about ongoing activities will be channeled through “Hindu Deep” from
now onwards.
For your information we are available to meet our members every Saturday from
11.00am to 1.00pm at HCK offices . If you wish to meet us please arrange appointment
through our offices and we will be happy to meet you. We welcome any suggestion as
we believe there is always room for improvement.
In conclusion, I thank each one of you for your continued support to HCK and we hope
you will continue supporting us. I also thank all our member institutions for giving us
proactive support always.
Theme: Family - Hope of the NationPROMOTION OF FAMILY VALUES
“ NAMASTE ”
“The World is a Global Village and We are Children of One God”.
Brothers and Sisters
FAMILY:Family is One of
life’s Greatest Blessing.
Family is the Centre of life’s
meaning.Family is a Unit of
People that Love and
Support Each Other through
Good times and Bad. A
Family is a little World created
by Love. It is a Primary
Social Group. A Small Community.
VALUES: They are the
Valuables that are Our Most
Precious Possessions. As
per the “Rig-Veda” (Holy
Hindu Scripture) The Aim of
the Familyshould be to Cultivate
Harmony in Society.
Faithfulness, Self Control,
Love Amongst Others are
Virtues which should be
Developed during Married
Life.The Success of a
Married Life lies in the Birth
of Healthy Children. The
“Yujur Veda” - Proclaims
May there be Always Love in
the Family. May all Live with
Affection.May there be
Patience, Stability and
Self-reliance. “Rig Veda”
Verses clearly Stress.
“Nothing Moral, Mental or
Physical should Break the
Bond of Marriage. “Husband
and Wife are like two Horses
Yoked Together, Tied by an
Invisible Bond Stronger than
anything Else. There should
be Perfect Harmony
between Them and they
have to March Together -
Step by Step - Bond by
Conjugal Love. Providence
has Endowed Man and
Women with Reciprocal
Magnetic Attraction. That
Propagates and Procreates
Children so as to form a
Family Unit”.
CONFUCIN SAID: “The
Strength of a Nation Derives
from the Integrity of the
Home”. A Family can only
Develop with a loving
Mother at its Centre. Who
Acts as the Fulcrum that
Supports the Family to
Grow, Advance and Prosper.
Mothers not only give
Birth they give Life. A Force
we attribute to All Mighty
God.
“BECAUSE GOD COULD
NOT BE EVERYWHERE HE
THERE FOR CREATED
MOTHERS ”In Hindu Philosophy
‘Mothers’ are referred to
‘Davi’s. A Personification of
God or Goddess. The only
Person in the World who
Works Seven Day’s a Week
and 365 Days a Year. With no
Pay is your Mother. Please
Appreciate, Recognise and
Acknowledge her Sacrifices.
It is Important to Educated the
Girl Child - A Potential
Mother - For if you Educate a
Mother you Educate the
Nation. FATHERS: - Are the
Care Taker, Providers and
Protector of the Family.
SIGMUND FREUD SAID: I
cannot Think of any Need in
Childhood as Strong as the
Need for a Fathers Protection.The
Greatest Thing a
Father can do for his Children
is to Love their Mother.
MOTHER TERESA: - When
asked What can One do to
Promote World Peace
Replied : - Go Home and Love
your Family.
Home is the Place where you
are Loved the Most,But Unfortunately
Act and Behave the
Worst. Please do not Criticise
your Wife’s Choice or Choices.
Why – Because after all
She Chose You.The Best
Security a Child can have is
Parents who Respect and
Love each Other.All that
Really Matters is that you
Love and You are Loved in
Return. Say Good things
often to the People You Love.
Say “ I am Sorry ” - “ I was
Wrong ” Please forgive Me. It
never Killed anyone to say
Sorry or to Apologise.It is
alright for your Kids to see you
CryYou don’t have to Win
every Argument. Sometimes
it is better if You Agree to
Disagree. However Good or
Bad a Situation is it will
Change.Life is too Short to
Waste Time Hating someone.Take
a Deep Breath to
Calm the Mind.Your Children
only get One Childhood so let
them Live it.It is Never too
Late to have a Happy Childhood
– Start Now.
Everything ever Created started
with a Dream so Dream Big.
When in Doubt just take the first
Step.
Miracles usually Happened when
You are not Looking.
FAMILY VALUES:
Definition: The Moral and Ethical
Principals Traditionally Upheld and
Transmitted with in a Family.
Honesty, Loyalty, Discipline, Rules,
Beliefs, Attitudes, Faults, Ideals etc.
These Family Values are There to
Strengthen the Fabric of Society.
Values are like Finger Prints.
No two Persons have the Same
Finger Prints.
You always Leave them All Over
with Every Act you Perform.
Your Act and Dreams reflect Your
Upbringing.
Values are the One and the Most
“Why We Shout In Anger” ~ A short story on Relationships
A Hindu saint who was visiting river Ganges to take bath found
a group of family members on the banks, shouting in anger at
each other. He turned to his disciples smiled ‘n asked. ‘Why do
people shout in anger shout at each other?’
Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, ‘Because we
lose our calm, we shout.’ ‘But, why should you shout when the
other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what
you have to say in a soft manner.’ asked the saint.
Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the
other disciples.
Finally the saint explained, . ‘When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that
distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout
to hear each other to cover that great distance. What happens when two people fall in love? They don’t shout at
each other but talk softly, Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is either nonexistent
or very small…’ The saint continued, ‘When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak,
only whisper ‘n they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look
at each other ‘n that’s all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.’He looked at his disciples
‘n said. ‘So when you argue do not let your hearts get distant, “Do not say words that distance each other more,
Or else there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.”
Changing Our Vision
There was a very wealthy man who was bothered by
severe eye pain. He consulted many physicians and was
being treated by several. He did not stop consulting a
galaxy of medical experts; he consumed heavy loads of
drugs and underwent hundreds of injections. But the ache
persisted with more vigour than before.
At last, a monk who was supposed to be an expert in
treating such patients was called for by the suffering man.
The monk understood his problem and said that for sometime
he should concentrate only on green colours and not
to let his eyes fall on any other colours. It was a strange
prescription, but he was desperate and decided to try it.
The millionaire got together a group of painters and
purchased barrels of green paint and directed that every
object his eye was likely to fall to be painted green just as
the monk had directed. When the monk came to visit him
after few days, the millionaire's servants ran with buckets
of green paint and poured it on him since he was in red
dress, lest their master see any other colour and his eye
ache would come back.
Hearing this, the monk laughed and said "If only you had
purchased a pair of green spectacles, worth just a few
dollars, you could have saved these walls and trees and
pots and all other articles and also could have saved a
large share of his fortune. You cannot paint the world
green."
“Let us change our vision and the world will
appear accordingly. It is foolish to shape the
world, let us shape ourselves first.”
