iQ top under 30 Dan Driver Dan joined Morris Armitage in February 2012 after having previously worked as a labourer for a bricklaying firm with no prior knowledge of estate agency. He now works in sales and is responsible for sales progression and negotiating offers between buyers and sellers. On top of this he operates external appointments, viewings and valuations which he says is a constant juggling act but one which he enjoys. Giving people the keys to their new home after what is quite often a very stressful journey is an incredibly satisfying part of the job for him. Being motivated and driven, Dan says he always likes to look to the future and tries to improve on the previous month’s results. Louis Fairfax Louis’ drive to succeed was clear from a young age when he secured a management position in retail after leaving school, where he was leading teams at just 17. He joined CUB UK in 2005 and in 2012 was promoted to the company’s Managing Director. He is involved with the creation, planning and management of their strategic plan and has overall operational responsibility, leading multiple projects within the business. He loves to see his team succeed and making a difference within the company with an unorthodox approach. Since becoming MD, he has modernised the business by rebranding, introduced a unique package based service structure, a customer promise, and now measures the company’s performance against values through a KPI structure, achieving the ISO9001 standard last year. Amy Heaslip Amy joined Good Sense Research based in Bury St Edmunds in 2014, after previously working as a Freelance Interpreter and Translator. She now manages marketing for both companies but predominantly works for Good Sense, which conducts consumer research using many different techniques. She loves the variability that comes with the job, as every project is unique and the dynamic, driven and passionate group of people that she works with. Working hard, Amy has recently secured a big industry player in Switzerland which she regards as one of the biggest achievements of her career. She says that it represents a massive opportunity for the company moving forwards. Samantha Hills Samantha joined Discover Newmarket as Administrator in 2015. She was born and bred in Newmarket and has been involved in racing since she was young. After working in the beauty industry for four years, she missed horse racing and is now happy to share her passion of the sport in her work life. Samantha is responsible for all day-to-day management and administration of the tours, from getting people booked on, to coordinating the venues and liaising with tour guides. She loves showing people how unique Newmarket is and seeing people’s reactions when they are taken on the tours. She works closely with customers to really personalise their visits, making dreams a reality for them by creating an unforgettable, unique experience. Ben Hutton Ben is company owner of Ben’s Restaurant in Bury St Edmunds, which he launched in 2014 after leaving university. He opened the restaurant with the aim of serving traditional British dishes sourced with local produce including their hand-reared pork from their farm. Ben says he loves being able to talk to people about the importance of using local and seasonal produce and knowing where your food comes from. Opening the restaurant has been Ben’s greatest achievement and with the focus on locally sourced produce, the business encapsulates all of his ambitions and beliefs. His passion has really driven the business to where it is today and Ben says that he loves being based in Bury. issue <strong>16</strong> | page 21
