READY FOR GAME 2 COMEBACK
KINGSTON FRONTENACS LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK IN GAME 2 AGAINST NIAGARA ICEDOGS
With a 3-1 loss in game 1 of their second
round series against the Niagara IceDogs,
the Kingston Frontenacs will be looking to bounce
back and even the series tonight in game 2. Jordan
Jackson looks at what the Frontenacs will
have to do to get the win against IceDogs in Keys
To A Win on page 6.
While Kingston and Niagara were even in
shots-on-goal in last night’s game with 32 apiece,
the Frontenacs only managed 4 shots on goaltender
Alex Nedeljkovic in the first period, a point not
lost on Head Coach Paul McFarland. “For whatever
reason our compete level, our intensity, our
willingness to battle in the first period wasn’t high
enough. Our second period was better, obviously
we had a good push in the third (period). In play-
off games against great teams, you have to play a
complete 60 minutes of hockey.”
“It’s one game and we just have to make sure
we come out for game 2 ready to play like we
played in the third period last night.”
As predicted, the difference in the series will
ultimately come down to goal scoring and goalkeeping.
In game 1, both goalies earned postgame
stars for their play in keeping pucks out
and keeping their teams in the game. More of the
same should be expected tonight and for the rest
of the series.
GAMES 5 AND 7: The series heads west to St. Catharines
for game 3 on Sunday and game 4 on
Wednesday before returning to Kingston for game
5 (if necessary) on Friday, April 15 in Kingston.
