Heading Home:<br />
Support Heading Home and their Economic Mobility for Families<br />
Program by putting together Economic Mobility Workshop guides<br />
and orientation packets for program participants, which serve the<br />
important purpose of supporting individuals as they work to support<br />
and provide for their families. This activity is easy, fast, and enormously<br />
impactful in the lives of the families Heading Home serves. Heading<br />
Home provides emergency, transitional and permanent housing, and<br />
support services, to low-income homeless and formerly homeless<br />
families and individuals in the communities of Boston, Cambridge,<br />
Somerville, Medford, Malden, Everett and Quincy.<br />

Spare Change News:<br />
Volunteers will assist the work of Spare Change News by stuffing<br />
envelopes in preparation for their annual mailing and their 23rd<br />
Anniversary Gala. Fold letters, adhere stamps and labels, and help the<br />
work of the nation’s oldest street newspaper. Since 1992, SCN has<br />
been covering issues other Boston media often ignore – inequality,<br />
homelessness, culture, and resistance. Homeless and low-income<br />
vendors buy the paper for $.35 and sell it for $1, using the profits they<br />
earn to supplement other sources of income.

Project Bread:<br />
Take a minute or two and help the Project Bread team gear up for<br />
their annual Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 3, <strong>2015</strong>. Get a little<br />
crafty and help cover and decorate boxes for registration, lost and<br />
found, and checkpoints used throughout the Walk. Project Bread<br />
brings a fresh approach to ending hunger. Their goals are to promote<br />
sustainable and reliable access to healthy food for all, to invest in the<br />
strength and resiliency of local communities, and to collaborate with<br />
others in building a robust regional food system.<br />

For this project, NonGala volunteers will be preparing a print/braille<br />
crayon board for those they serve that will accompany National<br />
Braille Press’ latest Great Expectations publication, The Day the<br />
Crayons Quit, by Drew Daywalt. National Braille Press supports<br />
a lifetime of opportunity for blind children through braille literacy,<br />
and provides access to information that empowers blind people to<br />
actively engage in work, family, and community affairs.<br />
