We also ran a short series of articles on Relationships from husband and wife team Joe and Melody Cheal and a longer series where trainers described their training offerings. Business development In this section, we cover current categories Best practice, Coaching, Diary and Research. Business development is an occasional category. In recent issues, Rasheed Ogunlaru author of Soul Trader has been a major contributor to our Coaching series covering topics like clarity, customers, courage, cooperation and conversations. Other contributions included ‘Me and my coach in the Muslim community’, ‘Helping the next generation bring happiness home’, ‘Transformation through music and songwriting’, ‘Transforming performance with the 5 minute coach’, ‘Coaching models don’t work’ from David Molden, and ‘Discovering your higher purpose’ with Kris Hallbom. Our series on Best Practice is about helping members to achieve professionalism in their practice and includes interviews with fellow professionals and draws on themes from Karen Moxom’s book The NLP Professional. Many of us are in business whether we like that idea or not. Our occasional Business development series covers many of the issues involved in creating a successful business. In this category we have covered, ‘Setting up for success’, ‘Working for yourself but not by yourself’, and ‘DISC profiling’ from Bev James. Caitlin Collins contributed ‘The uses of writer’s block’, Emma Wimhurst covered proper planning, and Lynne Copp talked about ‘Presentations with punch’. ANLP has always been a strong supporter of scientific research into NLP. The Research Conferences have been part of this commitment. Having a space in each issue of Rapport for articles showcasing research or reflecting on research methods is another part. We have covered Clean Language and Clean Feedback, Grounded Theory, Systemic Enquiry, Phenomenology and Phenomenological Analysis, Narrative and Discourse, Stats in Research and Clinical Research. Our academic authors include Lisa de Rijk, Suzanne Henwood, Sally Vanson, Megan Arroll and Paul Tosey. Recently, we have been running a series on the Diary of a Wannabe Researcher written by Guy Whitmore. We have plans to develop the research section of the magazine further – watch this space for more. General articles There are a few categories that don’t fit within the three sections above. They include End Note which is an opportunity to connect with our readers with your thoughts on NLP. There are no limits on the subject matter – whatever gets your message across. Subjects of end notes have been, ‘NLP and regulation’, ‘The truth will defend itself’, ‘NLP, talking therapies and proposed psychotherapy legislation’, ‘Congruency in NLP’, ‘Achieving success’, ‘Carrot or stick’, ‘Playing full out’ and ‘X factor and the value of feedback’. Our occasional How To pages cover the basics of using the ANLP website. Watch out for the new website this year and a new series of How To’s. We also feature ANLP News in each issue. In this issue there is also a Rapport News. These pages supplement the Member’s Newsletter which is published every two weeks and the blog/ news pages of the website. The newsletter goes out to all members by email and over 40 per cent of you open it. We’d love to get that figure nearer to 100 per cent. The future So to the future of Rapport. As we have also mentioned elsewhere, it is our intention to publish in print again for four issues per year. To do this we need your content which should be informative and not promotional, to regenerate the advertising base and to ensure that we are reaching a wide audience. There will be more about both editorial and advertising opportunities in the newsletter on a regular basis. You can also check on the website to find out more about getting your messages in front of our readers.
